  1. Bring it. Oh, I'll bear-hug the 1-2" of snow we MAY eke out tomorrow -- on Super Bowl Sunday and Valentines Day eve no less! But I'll also be ready for long doggo walks in the evenings mid-late next week where temps are back in the 50s.
  2. I'm assuming but thought I'd confirm -- you're in McHenry for the weekend? Cuz it's definitely not that cold here at the base of Mount Wegmans...
  3. Oh yeah. The extra daylight gained between the start and end of January alone improves my attitude by leaps/bounds. It doesn't last long, but I just detest that whole "go to/return from work in the dark" shtick....UGH!
  4. Agree 200%. We ran into several neighbors and friends on the doggo walk today....folks are all happy and bubbly, and I think the moderate temps had something to do with that today.
  5. I remember vaguely tracking your gardening exploits last growing season -- but don't remember you mentioning the jalapenos. Did you do those last year as well, and if so, how did they do?
  6. Currently 58, breezy as hell out there, though...forgot about the dry cold front moving through. A few earlier gusts sounded freight-train-ish against the back of the house.
  7. I miss the old version of the standalone CWG weather blog, long before WaPo took them over, or CWG sold out, or...whatever happened. The former version had more of a homespun feel to it...I miss that.
  8. Didn't want to pollute the "storm thread" (at least any more than it already is), but wanted to leave this banter-ish feedback here for you. I generally don't use or rely on AccuWeather's web-based products, but I *DO* keep the app on my phone and on my smartwatch for ONE single feature alone -- the anticipated precip alert (e.g., "Rain will start in next 20 minutes"). That's been pretty damn accurate in my experience, and often helps make the difference between cutting a walk/run short in time and getting soaked.
  9. The big doggo walk felt great yesterday....gonna be even better today! Part of me is always ready for those warmer days to return...
  10. Preach. I'm tired of cold and mostly dry. I'll take a few warmer days to break up the monotony...then maybe return to a bit of tracking before end of March.
  11. I despise ice storms now, but man....I love the morning after, when it's cleared off like this, and you get that "halo" effect on/around individual tree branches glowing in the rising sun, as you've captured here. Great shot!!
  12. That's...a great idea....for a movie.
  13. Well, at least you properly placed the apostorphe in this post. Ooooops.
  14. Yep. I well remember the ice storm of January 1994. Watching my pregnant wife literally slide down the hill to the car...AUUGGH!
  15. Wow, definitely thought you'd be cooler than that now....radar looks juicier in your neck of the woods right now, too.
  16. Didn't realize you went to MD for this....if it transpires, share some ice pics.
  17. Our "short term forecast" was just upgraded to a "dense fog advisory" until 10 a.m. I'll buy that...couldn't even tell it was foggy out just prior to daybreak an hour ago but now the fog seems to keep rolling in heavier and lower by the minute. Currently 30/21.
  18. That snowy owl is so beautiful. And it appears to have that smug, knowing look on it's face -- "Yes, you're right....I AM beautiful."
