  2. I don't know about Van Wert...but Xenia may argue with you on the tornado capitol of Ohio.
  3. And six hours later.....poof!!!!!!!
  4. Returned a week ago from a 12 day sojourn to Alaska. Bucket list trip with my daughter. Fairbanks to Denali on the Alaska Railroad. 3 days in the park...then train ride to Anchorage. The constant daylight was freaky, especially in Fairbanks. Fortunately we departed before mosquito season hit full force. With the ground frozen under about a half foot of top soil there is standing water everywhere. Perfect for the little blood suckers to breed. All in all a great trip. Fresh cool and dry air, beautiful scenery and lots of snow on the mountains. Highly recommend.
  5. As usual....Cromartie is hiding in his palms. His March torch forecast is frost bitten.
  6. I concur. The absolutely only saving grace was a white Christmas and the preceding Arctic outbreak. Too many of these turds in a row. Let's hope the coming El Nino is a weak one and shakes things up so we have a better winter. Cheers till next fall!
  7. Crappy spring in coming. Where was this MJO in the dead of winter? What an amplitude in Phase 8!!!!
  8. You know Minneapolis will reel this in. It's fate!
  9. Enjoy your snowstorm Cromartie... https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lon=-87.93006756864835&lat=43.399882071720384
  10. I ended with 7 inches. Too bad we don't have a push of cold air after. Soggy shoveling in Bellbrook. Real heart attack snow. But I'll take it.
  11. Where the hell is everyone? NWS forecast for Dayton area is 1-3 and we at 9:45 have 5 inches and more to come. Still in the game for midweek. Wake-up....unless everyone has hybernated.
  12. Using Kuchera (to make it look extra tasty) the 18z GFS shows what can happen if we are on the right side of a battle of the Arctic push against the SE ridge. If we get 3 inches in the next 16 days I will be shocked.
  13. 18z Kuchera HRRR snowfall totals. 10 to 1 about half this. With the cold and dryness...let's hope Kuchera is more accurate
  14. BAMWX (Private forecaster out of Indy} moved west central Ohio, including Dayton into the 6 plus inch band about an hour ago. Says the storm is slowing down....bombing sooner...and further East track. Winds will be stronger accordingly.
  15. I like to follow Bamwx on Twitter for regional info. They are a private forecasting group out of Indy. They just said there is a long way to go on final solutions for this thing. The huge shift from midnight to noon proves that.
  16. It all may end up just digital snow....but just had to do the 18z Kuchera for the end of the week, pre Christmas, storm, per the 18z GFS, a week in advance....ho ho ho!!!!
  17. 18z GFS is a weenie run that, if true, would be the one we've waited for far too long. Merry Christmas indeed! Now if only.....
  18. Still a long way to go on this. With all of the anamolous blocking in North America, the models are doing one crack dance after another. I'm hopeful as there is such an array of players on the field. We are all overdue for a big dog, and I just have a feeing someone's going to get one. Now will it be us, or someone nearby? Stay tuned.....
  19. This guy is a troll from way back. Time for mod action. Adds nothing but acrimony.
  20. Man are we due! I'm old enough to remember the snowless (flurries) but bitter Christmas of '83. Bring that plus snow on the ground...now that's bliss!
  21. November 12th and we're off.....here comes winter 22'-23'. Let's GO!!!!
  22. I am submitting dibs on the first witnessed snow of the new season. We are in far NW Montana at Glacier National Park and on our very early morning hike to Hidden Lake at 6,000 feet there was a dusting of snow on the boardwalk at the trail head. This is Mrs. I Love Snow trying not to slip. She, is not a snow and cold fan...thus the scowl on her face. We must endure what we must endure. True I cheated, but I claim first snow of the 2002-2003 winter season.
