  1. I want that! Pro Tier 1 only $10 a year so I'm pulling the trigger.
  2. Pretty good rain and some thunder in NE DC, winding down now. Based on radar, looks like Germandesert will stay dry. The lawn was hard as concrete when I mowed yesterday.
  3. I'm in DC so I will actually get to see some heavy rain. I hope there is some lightning with it as I have hardly seen any this summer.
  4. Had a big yard project to do today (garden beds clean-up and mulching), and could't ask for better conditions with overcast and mid-70s. Things are dry though with a paltry 0.27 since August 8. I'm really happy about the beautiful weather for later this week, including Friday when we move our son into the dorm at UMD College Park. Hoping for some rain tomorrow, but not counting on it.
  5. Woke up to thunder at 2:30 am and checked Radarscope -- warned t-storm slipping just south through Gaithersburg/Rockville. Picked up a big 0.08.
  6. LOL and that is why I was out this morning heavily watering my parched garden beds. I am calling in now -- nothing tomorrow or Sunday either.
  7. Let's see how good ol' Stephens City does here. Anyone got some CAPE numbers for central MD? It is sooooo hot out there.
  8. Sure is. I was just out heavily watering my parched flower beds (no, I do not expect any rain this weekend). Not only very muggy but very buggy too. Damn these invasive mosquitoes that bite all day and the ticks! I just got finished with 31 days of strong antibiotics because of one of those darn things (Lyme infection). But fall is coming! Football and good weather!
  9. August 10: 0.00 August 11: 0.00 August 12: 0.00 August 13: 0.00 And no chance of rain for a very long time coming up.
  10. Big thunderstorm a few miles south in Gaithersburg/Rockville, and more to the north. Shut out again for the fourth straight day.
  11. I think so. On the positive side we went into the Fri-Mon period thinking it was gonna be a washout except Friday. Turned out to be a pretty nice weekend and sun's coming out now. Wow has SE PA been getting killed though! Many counties under FF warnings again for up to 4" so far and raining hard. Glad that is not us; I just want 0.5-0.75 for the grass and gardens.
  12. Ha another flash flood watch for today - I think that's the third in the last few days. And I smell another shutout.
  13. Man parts of southern MD that got nailed by heavy rain last night (Prince Frederick) might get it again.
  14. LOL thunderstorm died out moving in from west, now a new one forming 5 miles east. Germantown is back!
  15. Looking more like no rain at all for me this weekend. I've got plants and flowers starting to droop so I'm going to have to do some serious watering today.
  16. I can't remember the last time the lawn was so green in mid-August! Glad to see a little sun this morning though. Jeb, that area of Texas you're moving to isn't as dry as I thought -- about 34" of rainfall a year compared to 41" for the DC area. But the temps! Average of 118 days at or above 90, and 18 at/above 100. But I know some people that moved to that area and love it.
  17. Oh so close! I'm in NE DC just down the street from Union Station, and am missing this warned thunderstorm by maybe five miles. I can hear lots of thunder though.
  18. Another 1.15 overnight, 2.5 for August. Looks like we finally get a break starting today. Can't believe that I need my outside potted plants to dry out in August!
  19. That is unreal. The rainfall map of the last 30 days has some 2-inch totals south of the Lake Anna area, with 10-15 inch plus amounts not far to the N and NE.
  20. Man Charlottesville has been taking a beating! NPZ: your rain shadow is like those desert micro-climates in Hawaii where there are lush, rain-soaked hills a few miles away.
  21. Nice thunderstorm last night with 0.4 and lots of close lightning. That was the first real thunderstorm I've seen this spring/summer. It was nice to turn off the lights and just watch.
  22. Looks like I'll see some action on the MARC train ride home from DC. At least this time I won't get nailed on my walk to Union Station. I tried waiting that one out last week by taking a later train, but it was still pouring when I left anyway LOL.
  23. Raining hard and blowing in NE DC -- I'm gonna take a train 20 minutes later rather than get soaked. I have an umbrella but that's not helping on the First Street canyon effect. ** Oooh just had a ctg strike with thunder less than a second after -- must have been within a few hundred feet.
  24. Might get more of that t-storm that I bargained for -- it looks to hit right as I am on my several block walk to Union Station.
  25. My wife said it looked pretty wild in Germantown. LOL we get the rare strong thunderstorm and I'm not home (in DC at work).
