  1. Some real heavy rain just south of Waterbury. Not sure if @J.Spin got into it but radar estimates are 2.5-3.5" in that area. ...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM EDT THIS EVENING FOR WEST CENTRAL WASHINGTON AND SOUTHEASTERN CHITTENDEN COUNTIES... At 744 PM EDT, While rainfall has ended across the warning area, prior radar estimates suggest that around 3 inches of rain fell in the Duxbury area. Localized flash flooding or high water remain likely over the next hour.
  2. The novelty is wearing off, ha. It was fun for a few days. I could use a high of 78F for a day and then it can come back. Thursday through Saturday have highs progged in the mid-70s with dews in the 40s and 50s, so that'll be a nice change. Thursday Partly sunny with a chance of showers. Highs in the mid 70s. Chance of rain 30 percent. Friday Partly sunny with a 40 percent chance of showers. Highs in the mid 70s. Saturday Partly sunny with a chance of showers and thunderstorms. Highs in the mid 70s.
  3. Holy sh*t... BTV pulling a 96F today (two hourly obs of 95F too, that's high end heat). 00z obs are in with the max temps over 90F. All of them seemed to be in the northern/western flank of New England, from NNH/NVT down through Berkshire valleys and CT Valley and into CT. BTV... 96F CEF... 94F BDL... 94F AQW... 92F HFD... 92F DDH... 91F LEB... 91F MVL... 91F HIE... 90F BML... 90F
  4. BTV with 5th day of 90F or higher is now the longest stretch of such heat in June since 1883. Old record was 4 days of 90F.
  5. Summit torches continue. All within 4-6F of their all-time maxes again. 6200ft... 66F MWN 4900ft... 76F Whiteface 4000ft... 81F MMNV1
  6. Haha good point. Don’t need the back-sweat while grilling and chilling.
  7. This is heat of yore. Full send with 5 straight 90F days so far.
  8. HIE and BML also 90F again. This is an insane run of torch for the north/west flank of NNE.
  9. BTV leading the pack at 93F so far.
  10. Looks like MPV ASOS picked up a quick 0.53" to go with the 0.35" from yesterday. The airport grass is getting some watering, ha.
  11. Ha, looks like MVL has touched 90F already for the 5th straight day. A torch of yore. BTV at 91F.
  12. Storms started early today. Ignition was like following a topo map of the Spine and then just drifting eastward.
  13. Crazy that we are only +0.9 on the month despite the past 5 days of ridiculous heat. What a month. Wild swings from cold to hot to cold to torch. -12/+10/-5/+6/-10/+12
  14. That's terrifying... sometimes those things pop up out of no where in these air masses. They happen surprisingly quick too.
  15. Pretty sweet summer sunset. This really is pure summer, seasons in seasons. Through a weakening rain shaft on the south side and then anvil on the north side with a couple mammatus cold pockets descending under the parent cloud.
  16. Put that on the weather.gov 9 dangers of hiking graphic.
  17. Mansfield managed to stay relatively cloud free on the hill today for some reason, lots of sunshine so today was actually the hottest day in the stretch up there. 82F at the picnic tables, only 3F off the all-time high set in May, which matches with BTV's 94F. They hit 95F that day in May when the summit hit 85F. Yesterday afternoon storms kept the temp down.
  18. This is the cell down near Waterbury as seen from my place, hearing the thunder from it... there's even some mammatus clouds now in the armpit of that thing.
  19. The crazy cloud porn continues from these localized storms. This is the cell down near Waterbury as seen from my place, hearing the thunder from it... there's even some mammatus clouds now in the armpit of that thing.
  20. Yeah that makes more sense. Urban flooding doesn’t vary with weeks of dryness... if it takes a fast 1-2” to flood parking lots and low areas on highways, then that’s what it takes. I was looking at it through the lens up here on how much water it takes to get a stream into a muddy torrent blowing out culverts and washouts. Usually those FF guidance progs are pretty accurate in that regard.
  21. At least 94F at BTV again today.... dews in the mid-50s though keeping RH <30%. We hit at least 90F here for the 4th straight day... BML and IZG also with their 4th straight 90F or higher day. NNE torch flames on. The mountain valleys are the new BDL.
  22. Actually probably pretty close in Brockton if they are over 2".... 1-hr FF values showing 2.5-3.0" there. The Cape needs a lot of water to trigger, ha. Though I don't know how this takes into account urban areas... that's probably a different animal than how much rain it takes to make a waterway a muddy torrent. A highway underpass probably floods with the same amount of water whether its been dry or not.
  23. Some good cloud porn today though on the whole.
  24. It's been dry? We had a couple locations just north of here come in with 1.88" and 2.10" in very short order yesterday with no FFW. I think the FF guidance is really high, like 3"/hr or more right now.
