  1. Colder than the picnic tables high up on mountains.
  2. That would get you a 90F at an ASOS, ha, but I know what you mean. 88-89F for a week at 1,500ft is crazy hot.
  3. One third of the days so far this month have set daily maximum records on Mansfield, ha! 8 of 23 days, including the last 6 in a row. Today will buck that as it's only 60F up there now.
  4. Looks like we grabbed 0.34" this morning... sort of nickle and diming our way to near an inch this week.
  5. Looks like today ends the 6 days of 90+ at spots like BTV and BML.
  6. Almost midnight, already nodding off... get awoken by the sound of something hitting the trash can and eventually opening it on the back porch. The dog goes absolutely ape-shit with the wide screen door being the only thing between it and the house. I got there just as the bear scampered off the deck, fled into the night. Paws were soaked like it just crossed the river.
  7. BTV posted this to social media, great loop showing the FROPA that should end the heat wave. This has been high end summer. After a high end summer shot in late May. It has wanted to swing wildly above normal at times, yet punctuated with times of highs in the 50s here in June. This has been a heatwave worthy of the nomenclature.
  8. Some max temps from this anomalous times... another good torch with highest anomalies certainly in NNE. Thunderstorms held temps a little lower in some spots compared to recent days, but places that remained sunny the longest torched the best away from marine influence. BTV... 96F CON... 94F HIE... 92F IZG... 92F LEB... 92F BDL... 91F BML... 90F DDH... 90F LCI... 90F MVL... 89F MPV... 88F BOS... 88F SLK... 87F TAN... 87F ORH... 86F IJD... 86F LEW... 77F PWM... 75F
  9. Would've passed on the rain today... only 0.09" and no wonder the dew point went from 63F (reasonable) to holding at 68-70F (getting miserable) all evening after that wet ground started getting hit by the sun. It's just enough to form puddles but probably doesn't do anything for vegetation when the sun comes out immediately after and torches it. Kept temps down, only 89F at MVL, breaking the streak of 90F days. I'd almost perfer BTV's afternoon of 30-35% RH at like 96/61. Shade stays cooler in lower dews.
  10. Looks like a decent storm in Waterbury, VT today based on this video.... props to the traffic flagger for making sure his sign stayed upright and forward. Never back down. It's like the guys putting the flag on the moon.
  11. Interesting way of looking at it... Whatever keeps the wife happy.
  12. Part of that just looks like we get lucky or unlucky depending on your point of view... but it’s still a hot pattern into Canada that we might sneak out of for a bit underneath it.
  13. Cool pocket underneath the over-the-top heat while Canada bakes some more?
  14. BTV with at least 95F so far again.
  15. Looks like day 6 of 90F at BML and HIE. HIE with at least 92F is solid. I’m seeing a brief 90F here at MVL on the 5-min obs but will have to wait till 00z for confirmation.
  16. Quick downpour left about a tenth of an inch of rain...not enough to do much of anything but jack the low level humidity up.
  17. We must have been warm in 2003/2005 around this time. Those are all the Mansfield record highs we are beating by a degree and most of the rest of the month seems to have those years prominent.
  18. Holy shit ha. The one thing is for all the record heat it hasn’t triggered a heat advisory or product.
  19. BTV at 93F and climbing. This is comical at this point. Putting up mid-90s daily like they grow on trees.
  20. Mansfield already up to 80F, old daily record was 78F. This is the 6th daily record max in a row.
  21. This is some real high end heat for the BTV CWA. MVL got to 88F so far but rain cooled air has it at 82F now. Still plenty of time to recover to 90F with these temps aloft. We are also going for day 6.
  22. Been very hit or miss lately. It's funny the past few days seeing CoCoRAHS amounts of 1-3" in some spots but then surrounded by literally nothing. Like tiny little footprints of inches of water.
  23. Yeah that’s crazy how localized it is this time of year. That’s a lot of rain in a fast period of time.
  24. I'm all for anomalous weather... get some records or noteworthy stats out of it. I have been thinking that like 85/70 might annoy me more. This hasn't been a humid heat, dews are higher with these storms but good mixing dries it out. Then again, I think if it was more humid we wouldn't be able to achieve this run of temps. Usually in a hot stretch there's at least a day or two that might have temps knocked back, but this has been sustained great conditions for high temps in areas that don't see this type of thing.
  25. The mountain valley radiator sites have done 5 days of 90F... but BTV has taken it to another level with 94/94/96 for the past three days. That's a sustained "mid-90s for highs" type of torch.
