What a quick dump of liquid on an otherwise warm and clear evening everywhere else. I also bet those storms continued into the NEK in narrow bands, but radar had strongest over your area. CoCoRAHS should tell the story in the morning with precip amounts.

That's a crazy hit. That Winooski River Valley seems to lead to localized convergence at times. It is just rotting over you, ha! Precip totals seem like the moisture split the gaps in a way.

Friend who works along the BTV airfield sent this photo of the training cells that fired up over the Spine from I-89 and just south. The mountains look so incredibly small compared to that vertical growth on the cloud, but also crazy to think that small of a terrain blip in the grand scale of things can trigger a storm.

Be curious how much rain you get. You are training pretty good now too. Been seeing constant lightning and rumbles of thunder now for a bit out the south facing sliders.

Yeah beers come into style and fade out pretty quick these days. If I had to choose, I'd probably go Sip of Sunshine over Heady Topper right now if those were the only two choices in a bar. I'm drinking an Otter Creek citra right now called Berner IPA... like I said, big fan of the flavor with those. To bring this back to weather, sitting outside listening to thunder from that storm just south of here in Waterbury. J.Spin's probably going to pick up a fast 0.5-1.0" of rain or something right under the core in his precip pocket, lol.

I feel bad stealing Kev’s heat too. Been a hot day at the N.VT and N.NH ASOS stations. BML with 4 straight hourly obs above 86F now. They’ve been a sneaky torch spot so far this warm season.

87/55...hot but air has that dry feel where there’s a good difference between sun and shade. BTV should hit 90F.

Yeah that and zero traffic during the hottest diurnal time of day makes a huge difference. It’s been incredibly hard to even poach as they’ve had manned security checkpoints to keep folks away from it. Its been a good case study of if a ski area made a shit ton of snow and then no one touched it for 2-3 months, how long would it last?

There was like a solid 7-day period in there where 4,000ft up here saw an average temperature higher than the same period at ORH. Normally given what we’ve seen so far would translate to like half a dozen 90+ days at BDL already. Certainly higher dews down there, no question. We’ve had more of the higher diurnal change heat. Like this morning was upper 40s to low 50s before an afternoon torch.

Late day pump with sunshine? So far I’ve seen: BTV... 88F BML... 87F MVL... 85F HIE... 84F MPV... 84F

Gotta feel for Kev. 85F up here. I feel like we’ve been 85+ more than all of 2016...I think that was the summer it failed to hit 90? 2017 was a torch with like a whole bunch of 90+, but I think it was 2016 when it was a lot of 70s and no 90F.

84/57 here at 12:15pm. Looks like 84/55 at BML. Can probably make a run to the upper 80s for the mountain valleys.

Going to be a hot one today, great pool day. Already 80F before 11am... NWS foreast is for 85-88F zone with full sun below 1,000ft. Way, way above normal sunny summer day.

Models look like they want to sneak a hot one or two days in middle of next week, sandwiched between below normal heights. Looks like another "over the top" situation with a plume breaking off and riding up into Quebec. Gotta love that the hottest east coast temperature on the prog for next week is way up in Northern Quebec with a 90F spot.

Yeah, it always cracks me up. Finishing up a hike it just started to absolutely pour as I got to the car, but I'm thinking, "I just looked at the radar like 20 minutes ago and there was literally nothing on it...how is it pouring now?" Ha. The Spine fires them up out of no where.

Nice. Yeah it was a big deal around here as the road hasn't been hit by a slide in a long time. One of those things where you see the large boulders around the base of the Notch but something you assumed happened a really, really long time ago. We are talking geological time scale type stuff, where you could certainly go a lifetime without seeing this. It does prove to everyone that while highly unlikely, it is possible to get crushed by rocks driving and hiking around in the Notch. This photo was my favorite.... the State Trooper looking up like where the hell did this just come from? It's almost like a scene from Jurassic Park, like what could've dislodged that rock? Oh shit here comes a dinosaur through the forest. Here's a drone shot of it, the smaller boulders made it to the road. The largest ones seemed to get hung up in the forest just before the road.

We had a late day spike once the sun came out. Rotted at 70-72F all day until about 2-3pm then spiked to 79F with sunshine by 5pm. What an evening with upper 70s over mid-50 dews.

Good to see BDL trying to catch up to SLK/BTV/MVL/MPV/BML/IZG etc in the 90+ club, ha.

This little critter came out of no where. Brief torrential rain on the mountain. That hill can always figure out a way to get the vegetation watered up there.

73/55 Struggling to warm up. Too many clouds.

Been having some cloudiness but more sunshine now.... up to 71F in the valley and 54F at the picnic tables. Perfect hiking weather.
