Everyone can be outside too... I've never seen the hiking trails this busy and same with mtn biking and water spots. It's all good as that's what we should be doing.... getting outside recreation is healthy for numerous reasons. NNE summer is outdoor recreation on water, mountains, beach, etc. And the weather has cooperated.

Yeah, comfortable but still warm so you know it's summer. Temperature dropped fast too with the sun. 71/57 to 63/58 in one hour.... you know it's a Chamber quality air mass when it drops 8F at sunset and with very little movement in the dew point.

What an evening. Chamber of Commerce returned today. Air was finally cleared of the haze and visibility on our evening dog walk up Spruce Peak was the best in the past week it appeared. 71/57 down in the valley, it was a nice 63F at top of Spruce around 7pm.

No I don't either necessarily, just saying that one senior center hit in Vermont right now would really jack up the COVID rates in a state with such a low population.

The cases per 100,000 people ratio though can also get out of hand pretty quickly with “relatively” small outbreaks. One senior living center outbreak in VT could send it through the roof. But yeah, rural areas are going to have a lot less “touch” points for transmission.

Today's date back in 2013 was the best severe storm T-Storm I've ever seen locally. This was all around my place and within easy walking distance. Whiteout wind speeds with rain. The Mansfield summit was something like 60G80 in a very short period of time... only a 5-min ob, between light wind speeds. I bet we saw a solid 50-60mph... maybe a higher gust peak (?).... that does more damage to interior (non-coastal) full-foliage forests than most people think during the summer season. It doesn't have to be 80-100mph. Sorry for the pics, but strong storms are hard to come by.

Well then, I stand corrected and inserted my foot fully into my mouth, ha. That's incredible. They must have very low variance. Like BDL and ORH are +3.0 or a bit above... PVD is a full degree below that or more. June was +1.9 and July is +1.6 so far. If that is top 10, maybe its a short period of record? Or do they really not have that much variance from summer to summer?

Why wouldn't it? Even the mountain summits around that level have normal diurnal max/mins that can vary up to 15-20 degrees F in stable air masses (ie no strong advection processes) when the valleys several thousand feet below are doing 40 degree swings. Most days that level seems good for at least 10 degrees in diurnal heating/cooling with the solar cycle.

Vermont has had only 2 COVID related deaths since May 15th.... and is the only state in the Nation with 0 deaths in the past 30 days. The only two deaths in the past two months were on May 24th and June 15th.

There's no way that PVD is top 10 hot. They are only like +1.8 for the summer so far since June 1st.

Runs in my family... my father has had several cancerous skin growths removed. My sister is following in his footsteps. I've been good since that one wake up call. The sun means business.

Ha, I feel like in college we'd wake up on Saturday morning and say "never again"... only to be like at 5pm that evening like well, maybe a little bit to take the edge off and then next thing you know it's 2am in downtown Burlington again. 79/58 on yet another summer evening. It does feel noticeably less humid, though still summer.

One of those come to Jesus moments where you vow never ever to let that happen again as long as you live.

Mine was the Dominican Republic in March, at the height of white boy whiteness. Northern VT to Dominican and I think my second day I got burnt so bad I could barely move. But I don’t think it was at that level in the pic here. Mine was my legs, forgot the sunscreen there. Couldn’t bend a knee for like a week.

Glad to let you guys in SNE share the heat this time. I still can’t believe you guys didn’t do a heat wave back in June when a bunch of NNE ASOS sites ripped out 5 straight days of 90+.

In Burlington for an errand this evening... 90/55 with a 10-20mph breeze out of the west. It is incredible the difference between mid-50s dews and 65-70F at these temperatures. It really doesn’t even feel that hot with the breeze or we’ve just become numb to it.

We went from south winds at 10am and 79/69 to NW this afternoon with 86/58. Not really a cold front but something happened and the air visibility got a lot clearer and dews fell into the upper 50s.

Alright kids, you can rotate every 5 minutes in the refrigerator.... Actually looks like home use refrigerators didn't start till 1913... so not quite kids, wait two more years!

Ha, it's not like they were all sequestered away in their mini-splits and iPhone controlled smart home climate control. Probably felt much better getting out there than sitting in some brick apartment building in Hartford in that heat in 1911. Staying inside was probably like being in an oven.

It is crazy to think about how with no internet, TV, and other means of communication.... you had to "see to believe". People starting a rumor about 112 degrees and then folks just starting a migration to see if it's true. Such a different world. Like when entire towns would gather around a housefire because well, it was going to be the most interesting thing you'd see if a long time and if you were curious what a housefire looked like, that was how you saw it. No google image search, lol.

About 0.20" of rainfall last night and a minimum temp of 69F.... just got below 70F.
