Yeah I had the same puzzled look. BOS may be localized on the water, but it’s still a significant climo spot that should weigh heavily into a zone average. Even normal around there shouldn’t be anywhere close to a top-10 warm August.
I guess it would make sense… even if August up this way was 15th of 100+ years. Thats pretty mild and not enough to drastically alter the summer rankings.
Summer tallies of June/July/August:
Burlington… 3rd warmest since 1884.
Saint Johnsbury… warmest on record since 1894.
Interesting the two longest climo sites in VT were #1 and #3 hottest summer on record.
Yeah looked like a healthy 850mb thermal gradient from north to south at max heating today. NW flow downslope compressional warming too.
Earlier you could see the compression with locally lower dews in NE MA and adjacent NH down towards ORH.
Looks like we got down to 45F last night at home. Maybe 30s tonight.
Summer left overnight here in CT… from dews of 70F to fresh breezy 50s this morning.
I oddly enjoy big seasonal forecast busts for some reason. It’s nothing against any seasonal forecaster and it’s awesome we are always trying to figure out and advance our knowledge of the world’s environmental systems… but it’s a nice reminder of how little we know too.
Isn’t TAN a bit of a radiator at times? Might be overnight lows there.
Seems to be a gradient from ocean-front to interior in terms of departures.
PVD was exactly normal on max temps and -2 on minimum. That’s what’s weird… it was a tough month to be -2 on the nighttime temps.
Other sites like ORH, TAN, BDL were all +1 to +2 overnight while PVD was -2. That’s where I see the red flag.
It’s not that nice here, the +1 goes to the north. It’s a bit more humid than yesterday but had a few sprinkles and dense overcast.
Yesterday was much better.
Yeah it wasn’t much, but just enough. The 80/64 at BDL sounds about right for the type of day. Maybe it was 75/67 under the trees here in the forest?
But no A/C needed, sliding doors and windows open all day… a nice Saturday.
Looks like just under 1” of rainfall back home today with 0.75 - 0.95” on Stowe PWS spots.
Glad we aren’t there and are in CT. Nice afternoon swimming and grilled meats for dinner. Not a bad Saturday.
We just found some place around Faneuil Hall… Oyster House or something to sit out on the street.
I’m out looking for a lobster roll for lunch, ha.
Chamber weather in the city. If you need to walk around the urban zone, this is the weather for it.
Yeah staying in North End, not far from the Garden. My in-laws have never been to Boston oddly enough, so quick trip then onto Woodstock, CT for the weekend.
I always have liked the North End… easy walk to almost everything too.
Today stop you from going swimming?
I’m in Boston and it’s a glorious evening in the city. This weather wouldn’t stop anyone from doing anything… except sweat.
Nice evening sitting outside having a beer downtown.
