  1. 72/37... another day under 30% RH. Pretty decent forest fire yesterday near Killington. Some photos found online.
  2. Just the other day I started noticing black flies in the 1,300-2,500ft band, in the calmer hardwood forests... the slow side trails on Mansfield. It's a spring light green in the valley bottom, with flowering color peaking it seems. Green is starting to spread up the mountains, into the mid-slopes. Bugs are only going to be building in this transition. Spiders increasing in numbers too, in the eaves.
  3. There is nothing more idyllic than a Chamber of Commerce weather day in New England. Mountains or rolling hills, forests and fields... cobalt blue skies and Bob Ross' "happy little clouds." This weather is 10 out of 10.
  4. Another Red Sox win with strong pitching and the bats going off. Would be a great New England sports day if the B's can take Game 1 from the Caps.
  5. All doors and windows wide open. Nice breeze rolling through inside. Glorious evening. Would definitely suck to have A/C units in today. Might as well close the shades too at that point.
  6. 72/28 for 19% RH. BTV 77/28 for 16% RH. Just how the chamber likes it.
  7. Bullpen has been regressing to the mean for sure. No confidence there. The starters are getting the job done, Pivetta again with only 1 ER into the 7th. Ended up with 2 ER because the middle relief has been serving it up. So nice to have Barnes close the door in the 9th every time it seems like.
  8. Matt Barnes is absolutely filthy as a closer. Punches out the side in the bottom of the 9th to end it in a one run game. Again. Just hammering the strike zone with high-end stuff. Every outing it's just impressive to watch as the crowd noise grows louder. He's had so many sick 9th innings so far. His arm may fall off at some point though.
  9. Forget. Family. Must. Never. Stop. Making. A. Point. Cheers dude. A couple beers, a burger on the grill and Red Sox game. Friday night in the USA.
  10. Rain has replaced snow on this sub-forum...lol. Expectations for summer water much higher than winter snow now. Winter...“might be a chance or two for a snow event in the day 7-10 time frame, we’ll have to keep an eye on it but things look good going forward.” Summer...”If we don’t get an inch of rain in the next 3-4 days... what a horrible pattern, just sunshine and dry. This sucks.”
  11. 73/30 for 20% RH... really not sure it gets better than this.
  12. Agreed. The waits for restaurants and stuff like the Gondola and Toll Road up here last July/August and fall foliage showed those did very little . I mean who cares if you cross a state line, it was more about conditioning behavior... but you can drive 8 hours across New York State, but couldn’t go 60 minutes across a state line? Stopping immediate areas in the spring made sense to get a handle on it... the whole flatten the curve idea, but they/state gov’ts got stuck in it.
  13. Interesting. VT just dropped mask mandates today at the 11am presser. Following CDC. All travel guidance dropped too, not that anyone followed that since last fall.
  14. Cannot be overstated enough. Today the Cu field and even some convective looking stuff is flaring up now this way. Just had a brief cell drop rain drops the size of small pinecones it seemed like. Splats but wide enough in frequency that they didn't fully wet the ground. Definitely a lot more clouds up here today than yesterday. Must've been the one in a million bright sunny day on NW flow under a cold pool. Satellite loop is pretty cool, just exploded at detonation time.
  15. Nice J. I've stopped skiing for the season, mostly because I love wandering with the dog and she's a pain in the ass to ski with. Just barks and tries to get in front of me. So I'm just wandering around on foot with her. We were up there on Main Street last night.
  16. The only time I've seen that is if they thought or smelled some type of flower or bud in the tree. The bears broke every single tree about that size that was in the Spruce Peak base area (they lined the driveway) trying to get to flowers or something tasty just off the ground. There was even video of him doing it... he'd try to climb on it (obviously wouldn't support him) until it would snap, sending him to the ground so he could get a better sniff at the crown. It was pretty hilarious, the bear didn't give a sh*t... thing would land on it's back, side, head, whatever. He'd barely get off the ground, the saplings would break in half and he would drop like a sack of bricks onto the ground, roll himself upright, and then start sniffing the downed flowers. The other question is, that wouldn't be a bird feeder next to it right? Just a bird house?
  17. The lack of synoptic precipitation events all winter played a bit role. Survived on upslope which really only hits the narrow spot along the Spine. The NE VT area stays dry for the most part. We had a pretty wet April as a state on the whole. The past 6 weeks have been wet it's seemed just anecdotally.
  18. Last fall and winter was a stein... that’s a decent improvement. But it seems the NEK has been consistently drier on these maps.
  19. A little frost again this morning. Temps recovering fast, 10F increase last hour from 39F to 49F.
  20. Have you seen the hacker’s business plan? It’s wild. Also good to know they will now look at their company ethics and only attack ones that will avoid social consequences. The good news is that you can ask any questions in the customer service chat and they will provide excellent technical support upon paying the ransom. “Our goal is to make money, and not creating problems for society. From today we introduce moderation and check each company that our partners want to encrypt to avoid social consequences in the future.”
  21. Weather really doesn’t get any better than this. Length of daylight is hard to beat too... can wander around outside until like 8pm. Haven’t seen any masks out this evening... or people.
  22. I forgot where my vaccine card is. Thinking the wife has it, lol. Not sure I’ve seen it since I got poked.
  23. Stanton is in beast mode, like he got a cheat code in MLB The Show. Looks like 2017 version. We Sox fans are not excited about it.
  24. 67F with full sun. Dews below freezing. Top 10 day. Leave work, go get dog, go back up the road to the Mtn and spend a couple hours hiking. Got to find some snow for the dog to roll in.
  25. Dying laughing at this for some reason .
