Oh man what a difference in CT from yesterday evening. BDL dew of 57F is a lot different than 74F yesterday when golfing. Almost a 20F dew drop.
Feels fresh and dry. My folks shutting A/C off and opening them up.

Looks like dews got to the lower 50s at home this evening. Big change to go from a few of 69F this morning to 52F this evening, alas not there to enjoy it.
63/57 currently at MVL… while it’s swampy in NE CT. Probably only a couple miles from DavisStraight as the crow flies to be honest, ha.

Felt like Key West down here the last few days. High Risk Swass days.
I had to chuckle to myself how empty the course was (literally only 3 groups playing) and my folks said these humid days it’s dead. Maybe it was the chance of storms that kept folks away, but all I could think of were posts on here from some certain folks saying how much people love high humidity for summer outdoor activities. It’s basically beach or bust though in that line of thought. Folks did not seem stoked to rush out and golf this afternoon in the swamp air

With that said, I came down to CT this morning a couple towns over from the Electric Blue, and god damn it felt like a steam bath today.
BDL had a 74F dew at 1pm and on the golf course it felt all of that. Just soaked in sweat. Wasn’t “hot” but man those 70s dews are gross.
Golf game was ok, but felt like playing in Florida humidity.

@powderfreak or anyone who may be looking for a pad in Stowe. Check this place out.
At $17.5 million that’s right in my price range, ha. But wow I never heard or have seen that. Cool house idea.
The real estate market around here is absolutely bonkers. In under 10 years our townhome value has like quadrupled. If I had somewhere to go, I’d put ours on the market for something outrageously high and see if anyone would bite.
I remember seeing the place Phin got in NH… the space in square footage, build quality, the views, the property, etc and the price. People in Stowe are buying like 900 square foot condos for what Phin got his pad for. It’s madness.

Weird to me that ORH barely sneaks into the 90s when BOS hits 100. Is this common?
There can be some wild lapse rates at times from ORH to BDL and BOS.

Has BOS been questioned lately?

if you don't like the data just say it's bad
I think most of us appreciate the perspective of some supporting info rather than a poster just saying the data is bad.
You seemed to take that personally

The pattern flip to markedly higher summer heat/humidity has been very noticeable. The the May-June-early July period was pleasant.
Didn’t use the A/C then, but this recent stretch has been enjoyable in the sense that we finally have ditched the louder window/wall unit style game and are able to make use of the quiet heat pump system. The money is worth it now, the technology is better too. Quality of life rising, ha. A/C didn’t seem necessary up north, 10-15 years ago especially… the first half of this warm season reminded me of what I remember then. Perspective drift over the years can very much happen though.

I posted a video of our severe thunderstorm from 2 days ago. That video was not made at the height of the storm. This one is. The video starts shortly after the rain came in. Normally in the thunderstorms I have observed the strongest wind was with the gust front, just before the rain. This was different. Started out breezy with moderate rain and got progressively worse. The hail got bigger and bigger and the biggest hail was at the tail end of the storm, not on the video. Things start to get crazy around the 1 minute mark.
Initially the wind came in from the west but as the storm got going it veered to due south. The bigger hail was at the end of the storm, not on the video. From my observation the most and biggest hail fell about 1/2 mile south of me. Interesting to note 1 mile north of me had very little wind.
Visibility dropped to perhaps 1/8 of a mile by 1:20 about the same as I see in a heavy snowsquall. I also notice something that I have never seen talked about. The hailstones were hitting the Stratus funnel and bouncing right out. Obviously each nickel to near quarter size hailstone is equal to a lot of water. So the 1" of rain in the status might have been more. Also I wonder if strong wind gusts reduce the accuracy of a rain gauge?
That's some good stuff there.... those gusts around 1:05 and onward are wild.

Death Valley chamber day.
Yeah it’s pushing that definition when in the 90s. But the RH is there

89/63 and that’s a Davis dew.
Most of the airports here are mid 50s. Nice, hot summer day with relatively low humidity.
DAW 95/57 for 28% RH. Falling into COC RH territory, haha.
CON at 93/56 for 28% RH too.

After having been a fan of the game for many years ...and also following the behavior of this team's personnel rotations vs success and failure over the last 20 years, that experience keeps telling me that this organization is not one that is top heavy in baseball actual intelligence. It has been one that has won in spite of that, as much as delusions of grandeur ( bit of snark there..) has kept times of loss dependably rationalized. This teams has had more lightning in a bottle seasons then any other in the Majors, spanning the last 15 years - I think they've been more lucky than many would face less accept.
They may be an organization that is more top heavy with lots of money and a deep passion ( perhaps)e, together, but not really with acumen, inside the inner power core.
It almost smacks like the happy go-lucky 'disconnected' elite wealth bubble that are completely reliant upon those they've appointed to 'tell them when aspects are going good or bad' They are not really 'in touch' ...until ... (and I'm imagining more so at this pint), it starts to hit them economically - which judging by the loyal fans and the sold out ball park, cheering on pathetic Red Sox runs, while the Blue Jays blithely and willing take a score more akin to an average football game for their side ... these wealthy owners may not be getting that message, because, as long as they're making money..?
Also, perhaps that detached reality is synonymous with gullibility, too. Sort of easily lulled and manipulated by said rampart of appointed advisers, being baseball passionate billionaires that otherwise may not really know what they are doing.
This organization needs to be blown up, badly, and said rampart isn't likely to advise the inner ownership of that necessity, because it means them too. Whether it is their fault or not, and sometimes failure just happens TO an organization, in spite of good intentions, too. But in either case, the solution is the same - unfortunately.
We need to go back to the time when the Red Sox we’re holding massive parades for losing. The golden days of the organization. When the fan base loved them no matter how many times they lost, loveable losers.
Almost a million people turned out for a Red Sox parade they held after losing the 1986 World Series.
What a wild time, can you imagine holding a parade today, in Boston, after a bad loss in the World Series… and fans were like “I’m here to show them how much we care about them win or lose.”

Low dews up here today at peak mixing but still hot with a high of 87F.
The drier air mass has led to a quick cool off this evening with sunset. Down over 20 degrees off the high to 66/61.

kind of scary that we're getting these temps with such a blah upper level pattern. wait til we get a ridge like canada 2021 or what europe just had
The funny thing is for most of June and first half of July, wasn’t @Typhoon Tipmusing that the surface temps seemed cool for the heights? Like those heights had yielded big heat in certain circumstances?
Seems like a disconnect between surface temps and mid-level heights at times this summer?
