    It's mainly sunny

    That’s pretty iron clad.

I’m in ALB today and would say mostly cloudy or filtered sunshine. Even a few scattered drops from a mid-level deck at one point.

72/46 is pretty damn nice here though regardless of if sky is deep blue or filtered sun through mid-level.

Someone tell the Martian few / scattered means sunny . Lol

I know you two are just in some weird dance with each other but each of those obs look like 4 layers of scattered cloud decks?  Like if there’s 4 in an observation then there are 4 layers or heights of clouds… some of those even have 5 layers.

What an absolute fabulous first 4 days of May thus far with sun and AN away from nasty ocean. One bad day tomorrow and then back to summer next week .All this after an AN Napril .

Do you and Ken get alerts when each other post?  Or is this an auto-canned message that AI generates when anything cool is mentioned? lol.  It’s like clockwork.

<If words cool, BN, cloudy, rain, showers, are mentioned, respond with dialog about perfect weather immediately />

Leaf out exploding in the SVT banana belt. Low 70s today and mostly sunny. Perfect May day.

It was low 50s and showery with a ceiling around 2kft this afternoon.  Did hit 61F at 11am but was all downhill from there with wet-bulb cooling in showers.  Finally broke up and dried up rapidly between 5-6pm.

Its crazy how comfortable it is as long as the sun is out.  Even temps in the 50s feel all good when the sun is out.  Coming out of winter, it all feels mild.

Which wasn’t very often there. It was mostly spring . And actually you did with the dog walking thru snow, radar grabs showing snow just over Stowe and nowhere else (in awe) and pics of downed trees from heavy wet snow.

Nah those are just general weather observations in a weather observation thread… you always think those are trolling posts.  It’s just what is happening outside like everyone else does .

West of there. Probably would’ve been previous frame. I think it hit over by the Tractor Supply near the Franklin/Tilton/Northfield line because the street lights were out down there shortly afterward.

Had an apartment building and auto body shop burn down Sunday morning in Stowe from a lightning strike.  That stuff is wild and unlucky.

  7. Snowpack at the picnic tables remains near normal with the long term average.  This season has been pretty normal on the whole for the snow department, snowfall and snowpack. Pretty crazy for Dec/Jan/Feb to average +8 and then a +6.3 March… even April is +2.5.  Statistically, to have these departures in the winter and still see normal snowfall, it’s a weird combo.

Not sure how you do it up there in NNE. Was on top of Mount Mitchell in NC last week and it was still stick season up there too. Depressing in late April.

Sunset is 7:53pm today. That helps a lot this time of year.  I find spring almost intoxicating due to the sun, regardless of leaf out.

Fall/autumn to me is super depressing once sticks are left and before the snow falls.  Just lucky to have snow cover to brighten things up for the majority of winter.

Maybe this time of year is the trade off down there because I don’t know how some of you do 4-5 months of November gray and rain in the winter.

Yeah it’s just sticks here too. A few species are breaking bud though.

Yeah some of the ground growth is starting to green up with very small leaves opening, probably the shallow root stuff?  A lot of buds though.  When it happens, it should happen fast as it usually does.  One day sticks, the next day that bright, light green color.

It’s pretty unique in VT.  What are the other gaps/notches? Hazel’s Notch, Appalachian Gap, Lincoln Gap, Middlebury Gap and Brandon Gap are the ones I can think of and none of them are quite the same.

Oddly, the closest thing I can think of is a valley location, the Williamstown Gulf. The Second Branch of the White River cuts through the hills and Rt. 14 runs along side it. At its narrowest, there is barely enough room for the road and the river. The sides are really steep and there are cliffs. Rt.14 gets closed there once in awhile from ice/snow slides. The only picture I could find online is an old postcard that doesn’t really do it justice.

I've always wanted to see Hazen's Notch up north.  There's a bunch of cool roads around through the gaps.  Granville Gulf on RT 100 is a great drive too with cool topography, wetlands, river.
