Another day with many sites in C/NNE seeing RH under 35-40%.
84/53 up here for 34% but winner looks like Newport, VT with 82/47 for 29%. MHT 85/53 for 33%.
In SNE, there’s LWM at 87/55 for 33% RH, BED at 86/56 at 35%, FIT at 83/51 at 33%.
Might be a bit before we get back to these levels, but the past 2-3 days have been nice.
Can see the dews starting to move in from the south, CT and SE MA looked more humid today than elsewhere.

81/54
What a Saturday.

Had a low of 50F, comfortable sleeping weather looks like it’s on its way out. Windows cool the place down to the low/mid 60s but looking like we’ll have to artificially cool it off soon.
Already 70/55.

A little excitement this evening right before the sun went down.
This absolute unit of a bear strolled through the backyard. We see bears but this might've been the biggest yet.
It was close enough, and chill enough, to be able to get the real camera. Could've rode this guy like a horse.

Taking this quick research a step further - going back to 2000, by the last week of September, at least 2/3 of the years have moderate drought or greater conditions covering large geographic areas of New England. So to summarize over the last 22 years:
- Drought isn't unusual in New England in July.
- Droughts lasting large parts of the summer also aren't unusual.
- Droughts usually end in the Fall and Winter for New England.
Not sure where to pull data for time periods for time periods before the year 2000, but heck, it's been dry, but eventually the pattern will change at some point, and it's not anything new.
Appreciate the research and info using data. Puts some of the hyperbole in context. Still sucks if it’s torching your lawn but it seems to happen quite frequently during hit or miss precip patterns in the warm season.

79/48 here.
BTV with 82/43 and 25% RH looks like the Chamber jackpot.
Edit: Looks like FIT is 84/43 for 23% RH. That's the spot.

That was a warm/hot 12z GEFS run in the long range. Summer coming.

I mean there's stretches where we debate how humid it was when dews are averaging in the 60s, but when we're arguing 48 vs 70 seemingly every day it becomes hard to read and a waste of effort. It's finally coming this time though. I'm ready for a little 90/70 for a few days. It makes me feel alive.
Not the first time in the past few weeks that someone, even a lurker, has made a comment about the lack of any desire to have an actual meteorological discussion on here.
Hope it doesn’t come off as being a d*ck but the head in the sand stuff makes it like why even bother discussing trends and models.
The heat and dews are coming, modeling agrees on that for the first time all summer there isn’t a cP shot out of Canada modeled after a couple hot days. This upcoming stretch will have some legs with heat/humidity that we haven’t seen yet.

This is why Will left the board.
You can only bang your head into a wall so many times. Just the inability to have an actual discussion about obs/models will drive anyone crazy that actually likes meteorology.

Hope you enjoy the low dews today.
We all know he’s really enjoyed some of these beautiful days but just can’t bring himself to say it on here. Needs to stay on-brand.

Yeah our 500' well only does roughly 200-250 gallons every 24 hrs...so keeping the garden and pool happy has been a little tough, ran the well dry 1.5 weeks ago trying to topp off the pool and water the garden on the same day...
The only thing green right now are the trees, wetlands, and the weeds...
Interesting shot there as it looks like the taller grasses look green and fine while the cut/mowed grass is immediately burnt and brown right next to it. Looks like that might be the drainage down there but it’s interesting how it’s literally that mowed is brown and not mowed is green… especially out past the pool in that field.
Its almost looks like nature was designed to be more drought resistant than our lawns.

Basically just focusing on watering the plants and garden right now.
Not sure why the last 10 years or so I’ve been feast or famine versus other summers that maybe have been dry but we get occasional rain.
It does feel like 4 out of the last 5 years have been drought indexed in the warm season in SNE. Then gets mixed out with like 40” of rain DIT saw last summer

Up in Burlington through Friday, then off to Portland, ME for Saturday and Sunday. Weather up here has been amazing.
Make sure to catch a sunset down on the Waterfront…. aka West Coast of New England.

Dews are still low-60s up north, with 63F here. The dry air hasn’t come in yet. It’s not warm with a temp of 64F, but it’s also not dry.

July 2022 Disco/obs/etc
in New England
Posted
Was just thinking of your “rains every day” comments… big outdoor concert at Spruce Peak, whole thing set up for 600-800 people, linens on tables, chairs, etc.
And the sky just unloaded water out of no where.
Now they are scrambling to change out everything, just soaked after +RN.
