  1. Heavy snow at the ski area. Looks like MVL ASOS is at 1/2 Moderate snow down low. KMVL 312019Z AUTO 18003KT 1/2SM SN FG VV016 01/M01
  2. Alta, Utah over 800” (now 50” more than record year). 23” last 12 hours and 33” last 24th. Storm total 40”. Another 30-50” storm coming after the weekend. At this rate they’ll be near 1,000” by season’s end lol. Remarks: A temporary break in the storm cycle this weekend, before the next potent storm system impacts the area beginning Sunday night and continuing through at least Tuesday, and potentially into Wednesday. This colder system looks to bring and additional 30 to 40 inches of snow through Tuesday with 2.00-2.50 inches of water. Some potential exists for larger numbers depending on how the overall trough evolves beyond Tuesday.
  3. 13F for a low, up to 17F now. Over it.
  4. Sloppy front end snow tomorrow afternoon before the torch?
  5. Those are snowmaking trails so it’s feet. Hard to say. Back loaded winter this year.
  6. Time to flip the switch with first pitch.
  7. Back to winter after tailgating and grilling yesterday afternoon.
  8. We pray. Today is going to be brutal. 18F with winch chill of 3F in town. 3F with wind chill of -20F at picnic tables.
  9. Yes! I posted in the main thread but we had thunder and lightning too… possibly same bolt as you lol. Sky flashed bright and Thunder was quick behind it. Muffled though in the big snowflakes. Great wind too.
  10. Flash of lightning and Thunder! Snow and wind now after starting as rain in town. Wow, nice squall line. Flags are straight out.
  11. Squall line has hit the mountain. Looks like we need to tighten the board up at the Lookout Cam plot.
  12. What a day. Running errands in town with this view, and then lapping it all afternoon.
  13. I love that even western skiers and riders throw shade about our “man-snow” vs powder.
  14. Still seems to range from 0-18”. Im not sure how you could put a single number on it. Some yards like that are 14-16”… then down the road the south facing fields are largely bare or scattered patches.
  15. Oh I know, all in good fun. Today was beautiful.
  16. Yeah you can’t look at any of the stuff out west and think it just happens every year. So. many. places. have broken snowfall records, SWE records, depth, etc. Period of records may only be like 50 years at many ski areas but it’s far more impressive than that post alluded.
  17. Where we live though… at a friends for dinner. Still a bit away from sitting outside around the fire pit.
  18. The best time of year. What a day.
  19. This sounds fun. Tonight Occasional snow showers, mainly before 1am. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. Areas of blowing snow between 9pm and 1am. Low around 3. Wind chill values as low as -22. Very windy, with a southwest wind 36 to 43 mph becoming west after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches possible.
  20. This does look like a FROPA that has the best UL support moving N/NE with time. Hit and miss squalls.
  21. It’s like the weather that would excite me in late October but this is brutal. Mountain frozen solid, firm icy skiing. And town looks like a defunct municipal rice skating rink of old snowpack very slowly melting.
  22. 37F with occasional snow showers. Lovely.
  23. Looking at obs it’s kinda interesting it didn’t snow but that’s how this winter goes. Looks like it was steady 0.33-0.50” in 6-hrs in the buckets between ORH-BOS, almost some banded precip from west to east with 925mb temps of 0C dipping to -1C during the diurnal cool nighttime. And yet the snow level stayed pretty high at like 1500-2000ft. Like you were mentioning yesterday, the FOUS and other soundings had this like “well, sometimes that snows” vibe. But never really got close.
