  1. Wildly unproductive "working" today. Set up shop in our sun room to have a good view of the snow. SN, 31 degrees.
  2. 1st snowfall since moving into our house in Alexandria. I forgot how pretty snowfall looks with Christmas lights.
  3. Roads covered. Trees caked. Snowing nicely with some breezes. Winter wonderland outside.
  4. HRRR has 1”+/hour rates tomorrow morning in DC from basically 6a to noon before gradually tapering off. Definition of hot and heavy for several hours. Fun stuff!
  5. 46/36. Seems likely we’ll lose the overnight hours’ QPF on rain/mixed precip except for the far N/W areas like Winchester. Tomorrow morning (post daybreak) looks fun though. 4-8” seems like a good call for Arl/Alex/DC.
  6. Welcome to the fun! Look out for those Maryland drivers….they usually don’t know what they’re doing.
  7. At least in MBY, HRRR appears to be running a degree or two warm vs current conditions for both 2m temps and DPs.
  8. Good number. But I’d take the odds of going over that - this “feels” like a boom type scenario.
  9. Starts as rain then gradual shift to a mix/sleet before going to all snow by 8a. Given current temps, I wouldn’t be surprised we have a few hours of rain/mix before its all snow.
  10. NAM is bringing the QPF this run. But that cutoff is insane. Barely 0.1” in northern Loudoun and close to 1.5” in the southern most part of the county.
  11. 23z HRRR drops almost 1” QPF in Alexandria/SE DC through the end of the run (stops at noon tomorrow). 0.6” Baltimore. Sharp cutoff north of Reistertown.
  12. Gorgeous, thanks. It looks like its taking on a negative tilt?
  13. Brutal cutoff for Leesburg there…
  14. 58/49. DP has been steadily dropping the last hour.
  15. No. Seems highly unlikely given the three hour component.
  16. 40s marching towards the DC Beltway. 30s approaching Winchester. LFG
  17. SWEET, Caps tie it up late in the 3rd.
  18. Agree, Ellinwood’s map looks really good IMO. 4-8” (some locally higher amounts) is a good call. A few days ago, people were cancelling the rest of winter so I think some perspective of where we stood a week ago should be kept when freaking out about each run.
  19. 18z GFS reactions were truly special…even for mid Atlantic standards.
  20. For the snowfall map queens. So much panicking over every tick.
