The steroids should make you feel fabulous (until the second or third day after you stop taking the steroids) Unless you have serious problems Do not stop taking the Prednisone ,(adrenal glands need you finish with a taper off the med).
  3. Ha! Tell that to the female hummer who flies out of the tree, b-lines straight to me and starts drinking the nectar out of the feeder before I've even had a chance to switch it out.
  4. 48F. My flowering tropical plants are not happy at all. The hummingbirds aren't either. I moved the hummingbird feeders out of the rain and wind, and surprisingly they found the new location of pretty quickly. And I'm switching the feeder every 3 hours, (one inside to warm it up).
  5. The only sound is the HVAC kicking on, and a wide variety of chirping birds.
  6. Now this is my kind of weather. I wish I could be like this all summer.
  7. Pea-sized hail on the Eastern shore
  8. Keep the hummingbird feeders away from feeders for other birds. Secondly hang the hummingbird feeders somewhere high enough that raccoons and squirrels can't get to it. Once those little critters get a taste of that sugar water the feeder will be empty the day after you fill it up....
  9. Hummingbirds arrived 3 days ago. I wasn't sure if they were just passing by and hitting the feeder's for fuel to reach their destination. The dive-bombing and fearless hovering has begun.
  10. Yes, I make my own nectar. during the Spring and late Fall I'll usually add a little more sugar than called for, since they burn up so much energy trying to stay warm. I also boil the water to burn off the chlorine. It takes a little longer because you have to wait for the nectar to cool. https://www.audubon.org/news/how-make-hummingbird-nectar
  11. Grab some fake flowers from a dollar store red white purple but predominantly red. You need to grab their attention upon arrival. I have three feeders out now in various locations. We get the same hummingbirds every season they're not afraid of us anymore, and will dive bomb our heads if the feeders are empty.
  12. Scroll down click on map https://www.hummingbirdcentral.com/hummingbird-migration-spring-2021-map.htm
  13. First ruby-throated hummingbird in the state of Maryland spotted in Pocomoke City. Put your hummingbird feeders out, they're going to be hungry, tired and cold.
  14. Sleet and freezing rain Bayside
  15. Mount Holly is much better than Sterling when it comes to those who live 12-15 miles across the Bay from Rock Hall up to the Elk River. Their discussions are better as well, imho
  16. It's not worth measuring. But it's nice to have a wintery landscape to look at.
  17. Yeah, we wasted 0.12 on rain prior to the switch. Pier is coated and small to moderate sized flakes continue.
  18. It started accumulating on the deck about 10 minutes ago.
  19. 36° mood flakes blowing about while everything else is melting quickly
  20. Lol ^^^ 7:16 pm Light snow. But it's better than ice, or nothing at all.
