  1. Air quality index is "only" at 164 in Astoria today. It was much worse yesterday.
  2. Air quality index is in 300-400 range, which is horrid.
  3. We had a 5 min brief shower by me. Barely enough to wet the ground. I wonder if the smoke is putting a cap on any thunderstorms, acting like a stable layer higher up in the atmosphere. Making any storms low topped.
  4. Not much showing up on the radar though.
  5. I am hearing rumbles of thunder right now in Astoria.
  6. My garden needs a period of warm weather, interspersed with rain to grow properly. I know yesterday a lot of the rain must have ran off at first, the ground was so hard from lack of rain before hand. The streets became streams with the run off.
  7. I was in a lyft ride home yesterday during that thunderstorm. Lots of loud bangs, rumbling thunder, and the crackle boom ones. Nice lighting as well.
  8. I always joke predict 1"-100". Who knew I came so close to busting on the low end. LOL
  9. He still has stuff that is free to view out there.
  10. Page clicks are what drives ad revenue. That is what JB care about these days. The ad revenue.
  11. JB is also all about the page clicks these days, as it generates revenue. No one wants to hear about boring, warm, dry weather. They want to hear about cold, snow. Hot, stormy, etc. So that is what he looks for in the models, looking for something in them so he can come up with a cold, snowy forecast.
  12. Nothing but white rain here in Astoria. Snow instantly melted no matter what surface it touched, trees, cars, grass, sidewalks, pavement.
  13. With average temps around 50 now, you need a deep arctic blast that will lower temps to 20 degrees below normal to get any snowfall opportunities going forward for NYC.
  14. Don't hold your breath on that one.
  15. The soundings for this storm for NYC/LI are godawful for this upcoming song.
  16. Cut those numbers in half, as our ratios will be about 5:1, especially close to the coast.
  17. Is it fair to say that we need to get tonight's storm out of the way, before we really know what is going to happen with the Mon/Tues system?
  18. What time was that? I was up by 8:15am and didn't see anything at all.
  19. I don't think I saw a flake, or an ice pellet by me. Ground was wet, but no signs of snow anywhere, even in shaded grassy areas.
  20. So now that we are safe in NYC from setting an all time lowest snowfall record, how much more snow will we get this year? What are people's thoughts on this? We are going to start to run out of chances IMHO to get any significant snow. Of course we can always get an April surprise, but those are usually not the norm.
  21. I live stone's throw from LGA, and I wonder if their total was actually high. I don't think we got 2.7" here
  22. Cut those numbers down in NYC/LI for an 8:1 ratio.
  23. Grassy areas are covered. Sidewalks, streets are not.
