I estimate my back yard got more than 5" of rain this week...

ended up with 3.07" from the storm... localized heavy rain doen't show up in the records for areas that didn't get much...this year totals are similar around the city but a lot of it came from different events...June 1962's deluge in Brooklyn wasn't a big event in Manhattan...6" in Brooklyn and only 1" in Manhattan that day...

over 3" imby from todays downpours...raining again...

3.02" so far for this event...not bad and it aint over yet...

there's more to the southwest of us near Philadelphia and the Jersey shore...if that gets up this far it will be a 5" event...it's raining to hard to go out and check my gauge...gotta be over 3" by now...

I'm in Eltinville and have over 2" probably nearing 3" by now...

got a little over 2" of rain from that cell over SI and I didn't get the brunt of it...

I got my rain gauge out for this one...it looked like it was going to miss me here in SE Eltinville...it was moving ne but expanded east over me...getting heavy rain as I type...

watched this one develop and it really blew up enough to effect me near my house...the temp dropped 15 degrees so far... traffic is always bad here...40 years ago you could drive over the bridge and through Staten Island in ten minutes...now it takes over a half hour on a good Friday evening...

July 15th 1995 I was dreaming about snow falling just before I woke up that morning...I'd say it was a good omen...July 2018 already has over 7" of rainfall in Central Park...The summer has over 9" so far...from 1870 to 1969 NYC averaged 11.9" of rainfall for the summer...since 1970 the average is up 10% to 13.3"...

the 1950's had the most 100 degree days in NYC at the park with 12...from 1948 to 1957 it hit 100 seven out of the ten years...I believe there were 16 days in that period with a 100 degree day...at the time some blamed it on A Bomb testing...the 1940's continue to have the most 90 degree days with 202...with the nine 90 days this year so far the 2010's are averaging 18.3 for the nine years...
