yep where is the moisture with the incoming cold, same old, cold and dry or warm and rain. Threading a needle is hardly the word trying to get snow.

At Hr 84 the column is nearly frozen. Wet bulb would probably slow for moisture to fall is snow. Several EPS members also have the chance for a dusting or so either from a front end thump, or a backside push of moisture. Several possibilities here.Sounds good buddy here's hoping we all get a little more. Thanks for all your input and explaining it all to us.

Hope Buncombe County can get in on a little of that.

Just looked at the radar and the precipitation is drying up fast, hope Asheville can get in on the snow tonight and tomorrow morning.

There was snow in the Upstate with this system but it was mostly cold rain literally 33 and rain.
I think most of NW SC from Northern GVL, Pickens, & Oconee counties saw a dusting to as much as a foot in the highest peaks along the border.
Just into NC it was a completely different story.
It was a legitimate blizzard.
WLOS has its tower on Mt Pisgah had over 2 feet.
It was an amazing storm in the extreme western sections of WNC.
Of course JAN of 87 & 88 we had 1 foot plus totals at GSP.
The 88 storm was amazingly cold.
As a senior that year we missed around 2 to 3 weeks of school.
When we finally went back there was still snow on the road.
I'll always remember that storm, I delivered mail in north Asheville and that was a Saturday April 4; will never forget it the day before we were wearing our postal shorts like 75. That next day I tried to deliver my mail and even with chains on I had to come back to the station there were so many cars out joy riding in the snow they had the roads blocked and I couldn't get thru on my route, every where I tried to go the road was blocked. We had around 12-14 inches the best I can remember, Heavy and Wet snow I mean. I'll never forget it.

50s and 60s starting Sunday will keep the grass growing all the way to the VA border. I already mowed once last weekend! So for most of the forum spring is springing, crickets may already be chirping and this winter is in the books. I saw snow twice and they were both low impact events. I would rate that a C+ on the type of winter I wanted to see and a solid F on what was forecasted for the triad.
I can't believe I had to cut my grass a week ago, the earliest I ever cut my grass was the end of March, this is crazy.

Still snowing pretty hard here West Asheville with the ground covered.

Yeah we have a several bad years for sure. This winter is not over yet though. Sure it has been bad but we have a ton of variables on the table.
We can't seem to get the cold air to become well established just before the moisture gets here. Like the end of this week coming we'll have the temps but no moisture, threading a needle isn't the word, LOL

Screw winter.
I believe I agree. This winter has been so disappointing.

Wow still can't believe the WNC Mountains haven't seen a couple of decent snows. Don't think I've ever seen weather like this in my 68 years here. Don't think a year has ever been this bad.

Wow, mighty quite in here, is there nothing on the horizon? I keep hearing about next Thursday the 27 and March 4. ❄️❄️

Yep not excited about this storm today. We got maybe a half inch. Never did stick to the roads. I think I’m done. Couldn’t even get two inches let alone three.

Okay, just started snowing in West Asheville.

Morning Jason...
The closest location on the SREF for me is south of Shelby which is about 30 miles to my SE. It is up to 2.32. Yesterday highest at 09z was 2.82.
well still looking, haven't seen a flake of snow yet. Comon snow where are you, it shows the snow over Asheville since 6 this morning. Is the atmosphere that dry that its burning up that much moisture?

They are giving time to look at todays runs. They are always super conservative anyway.
Yep guess your right, because it does look like it snows here the whole event with no rain or sleet.
-
GSP mighty conservative only saying a dusting to an inch around Asheville, with all the data I would have thought for sure 3 maybe 4 inches around these parts.
-
GSP saying a dusting to an inch around Asheville, doesn't seem right with what all the models are showing. I would have thought around 3 inches maybe 4 at least.
