Yep I think GSP is out to lunch right now, I think the mountains see some accumulations out of this if models hold.

with most if not all the models showing snow next wednesday afternoon or night GSP doesn't sound to excited yet, guess they're playing the conservative roll right now.

This and the above CMC are the first maps I've seen that show any snow for the upstate since Jan. The models actually did very well with snow placement last week with almost all of NC getting some but it never getting into SC, they nailed that. Most of them showing a similar scenario this time with SC getting missed again, but these two show little. Would be neat to see but it won't happen.
yep GSP says winter isn't over yet, surprised not more chatter about the potential for snow the middle of the upcoming week.
-
GSP saying they have to watch the models very closely, just a slight shift of the low to the south could cause impressive snow amounts lower than the highest peaks. Come on Mr. Low pressure, please go south of us a little more.

surprised no one talking about March 12 and 13, even GSP starting to say next week needs to be watched closely. This would make sense, seems like during the ACC Tournament we get some degree of snow around the southeast.

Guys isn't March 8 thru 12 looking very interesting? I realize its 10 days out but its got potential. GSP has mentioned snow possibly the end of next week in the mountains, that's all they will say right now which is understandable.
-
Guys if something doesn't start showing up soon on at least the fantasy maps we can kiss this season good-bye, this is unbelievable . Lived here my whole life and never seen anything like this, this warm for this long in February.

Northern Hemisphere pattern to the Pole is really ripe right now. Nice flow of waves, in balance with good things I think. This means the 7-14 day period could be more organic with higher snow chances. There is nice oversight right now

Bring the cold and snow on, I think we deserve March to be cold and stormy since February was suppose to be a winter month and has been quite balmy. Bring it on.,,,,,

Wow! As of today, few trees are already blooming. Crazy!
Too early, these trees and bushes are going to get a killer frost or two before March and April are over. NOAA already saying the whole month of March will be colder than normal for most of the country except for Texas and Florida.

Well...we are the south...
What I hate is that we are finally heading in the right direction as we approach March--I'd much rather have winter in winter than to go from a false spring back to winter. Anyway--if it can produce another winter event in March I'd gladly take that, too.
We are in the south, but its still winter time and you know February is suppose to be a cold month here also. At least in the mountains for sure.
-
Guys something needs to start showing up soon in Fantasy Land and Clown Maps or we're going to run out of time.
-
This is what you call bad when no one here in the middle of winter has posted since 14 hours ago.
-
This is crazy still nothing on the future maps showing any snow, can't believe the long range isn't showing some snow since we're still in winter with still some to go especially in the mountains.

Winter looks to be mostly over at this point. Maybe we have a decent shot at something early March, but Feb looks like it’s circling the drain.
I really hate these winters now where you only get winter for half of the winter.
I agree, we only get half the winter anymore, February is suppose to be a cold winter month, this is ridiculous. I can see a week of this kind of weather but not the whole month.

Now all we need is to get the cold and moisture here at the same time.
Doesn't seem to work out that way to often, awfully hard to get cold and moisture at the same time to have a good snow, it happens but we all know its worse than threading a needle.
-
Looking bad for us right now through next week, hope the week after and beyond have some fun and games. I hate it when its this quiet in here, means there is nothing on the horizon.
-
Yep wish it would snow as often or easy as it rains. Hope there is another snowstorm or two to chase/follow.

Man it is amazing how fast Fab Feb went to Feb Flub. I wonder what it was that "faked" all the models out, or were we just projecting our desires onto their usually variable output?
well if the models flipped that fast one way they can very well flip back to the side we're looking for. I still think we see a couple of good chances for more snow maybe even a big snow event thrown in there.

Although the Canadian is colder, it had done well this Winter, but kinda hard to Trust it when GFS AND EURO dont
I think the other models will play catch up and will trend colder, thinking the Foothills will also do ok.

Yeah with the marginal cold and the low position, the higher elevations can make this work. Kind of like spring storms...
I think anyone in and around WNC will do fine with this storm Sunday and Monday if the low will stay far enough south.

For us out west, it's a timing thing. Like Burell touched on, the cold Saturday has been trending colder and the sooner precip gets to us , 4-7 am, could make it a little interesting
The Sunday event could stay snow and sleet for a lot of folks if Saturday keeps trending colder. Let's hope if it occurs it doesn't have a chance to change to rain. Maybe this will be a create some cold air of it's own storm also.

Why can't our snowstorms come with this kind of rain saturation we're getting now?
Agree, why can't we get snow like when we get rain all last night and today.

This is why I don't watch every model run and only listen to the professionals. also I have always been a Virginia fan and we beat UNC and Duke at Duke.
That should be Puke at Duke.
