This upcoming week will be our coldest week so far this decade and in the last 6 years. When the temperature drops below freezing tomorrow afternoon we should see temperatures stay below freezing for at least 7 days. The last time we had a stretch as long as that was the 14 straight days from December 26, 2017 through January 8, 2018. So it's time to lace up those skates to use on the numerous ponds in the area. -
We picked up a total rain of 0.94" in East Nantmeal with 0.42" falling since midnight. A cold front is crossing the area this AM and temperatures will be falling through the day. Another cold front sweeps across the area tomorrow and we could see some snow flurries or squall with that and temps will again fall tomorrow PM with temperatures falling through the 20's and into the teens by 8pm. Once temps fall below freezing tomorrow they will stay there for at least an entire week. We will have a few potential light snow events this week with the first one later Monday night into Tuesday morning. The next chance comes in during the day on Friday. Records for today: High 68 (1932) / Low 11 below zero (1912) / Rain 1.34" (1978) / Snow 6.0" (1964)

Is it me or is something wrong with the NWS Mt. Holly Discussion tonight. I don't see temps above freezing after Sunday yet I see the below... LONG TERM /MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/... High pressure builds across the Deep South Monday night into Tuesday, before shifting across the southeast states and offshore Tuesday night. While the high will not fully build into our region, there will likely be enough of an impact to keep the forecast dry overnight Monday through Tuesday night. High pressure well to our south moves out to sea Wednesday ahead of the next weather system. On Wednesday, an area of low pressure will develop near the Great Lakes region, before shifting toward the Mid Atlantic region Wednesday night. Low-mid level moisture and lift increases as an associated mid level short wave/vorticity impulse moves into the region, which could help lead to showers across the area. By Thursday, this low will become absorbed by a coastal low that is forecast to move northward offshore of the east coast. The majority of the long term guidance keeps the coastal low offshore. This would keep the majority of the precipitation offshore, but there could be some wrap around precipitation as a trough from the previously absorbed low moves across the area during the day Thursday. Temperatures will be cold enough to start out as snow everywhere, before warming and changing to rain for much of the area during the day. High pressure is forecast to briefly build across the southeast states Friday into Saturday, and could impact the Mid Atlantic region, keeping the forecast dry. -

I am not sure what you are looking at....but me thinks we have an overall colder than normal peak winter season upcoming between now and the end of February. Now whether that translates to any snow....who knows....it might be like the winter of 1976-77 cold but dry and little snow. -

Either way are clearly seeing a big pattern change to colder that looks likely to last right through February. This to me looks like one of the more sustained cold patterns we have seen during the heart of winter in some time.... -
Some lows around the county this AM- East Nantmeal Twp. 29.1 / Atgen 33.6 / Chester Springs 25.7 / Devault 26.1 / Warwick Twp. 23.3 / Glenmoore 27.9 / West Chester 25.0 / Kennett Square 26.0. Flash flood watch tonight with rain arriving from SW to NE across the area after 7pm. We could see around additional inch or more of unneeded rain across the area. Temps will rise tonight to the low 50's before falling all day tomorrow with temps falling below freezing by 6pm. Sunday should see highs into the upper 30's but that may be our last day above freezing for at least the next week. Additionally, snow chances will increase by Tuesday. Of note if and a big if... we do see any snow a couple models are hinting at temperatures near zero by Thursday morning this assumes there is some snow cover. Records for today: High 64 (2020) / Low minus 7 (1981) / Rain 1.98" (1983) / Snow 5.0" (1982)

Power is still out in many spots including here in East Nantmeal. We should see some sun today before clouds start increasing again tomorrow ahead of another rainstorm. Rain arrives tomorrow evening after rush hour and will continue into Saturday. It looks like an unneeded 0.75" to 1.25" of rain are possible across the county. Much colder air with our pattern change arrives on Sunday and temps across some spots of the county may begin a stretch of temps failing to reach freezing for much of next week. There will also be a couple of chances of snow the first event possible late Monday into Tuesday and another one late in the week. Records for today: High 67(1975) / Low -5 (1981) / Rain 1.19" (1924) / Snow 7.2" (1922) -
Power out here since 730pm last night....winds still howling here pretty good!
-
Ended up with 2.90" of rain here in East Nantmeal eclipsing the old mark of 1.66" set back in 1964. Still without power here in the township as I know many of you are in the same situation. Winds are still howling but at least sunshine has returned. The wind advisory is in place till 6pm this evening. Temps should stay pretty steady today. Unfortunately the dry weather will only last till Friday night when we see more rain (although a good deal less) arriving. Mild again on Friday but temps should start falling during the day Saturday with the potential for a little snow by Monday night into Tuesday. Records for today: High 62 (1950) / Low -3 (1982) / Rain 1.06" (2016) / Snow 9.0" (1954)
