Across Chester County PA we finished May with an average temperature across the 27 NWS/MADIS stations of 63.9 degrees this was the 27th warmest May since records began in 1893. The warmest station was of course Phoenixville at 65.6 degrees and the coolest was at Warwick Township at 62.7 degrees. The highest temperature during the month was recorded at West Chester with the 88.7 degrees on the 26th. Our lowest temperature was the 40.1 degrees on the 11th. The greatest monthly rainfall was at West Chester with 3.57" of rain. Below is the long term May actual (blue) climate history since 1895 - compared with the altered adjusted (red) NCEI trend lines. The actual lines show no warming and actually some cooling over history....while the adjusted NCEI figures show some slight warming.

Hi Don, All valid data points are meaningful....like this one. That does not of course imply that during our current warmer cycle that likely lower mean highs offset by higher mean lows will show overall warmth.
-
of course.....with the adjustments applied to arrive at the official altered data.

Interesting data here as we have had a very slow start to the warm season across the entire USA this year. Only 4% of USHCN stations have reached 80°F so far this year, which year-to-date, is fourth lowest on record since 1895 behind 2011, 1995 and 1935, and is about the same was 1924. The peak year was not surprisingly 1934. The top five years are 1934, 1936, 1969, 1939 and 1914. No such years at all in the last 55 years?? -
Sorry to the climate alarmists on this site.....you won't appreciate this info.....but only 4% of USHCN stations have reached 80°F so far this year, which year-to-date, is fourth lowest on record since 1895 behind 2011, 1995 and 1935, and is about the same was 1924. Today is the last day of May and this month will be the 6th straight month to end with above normal temperatures. Our last below normal month was last November when we were 1.2 degrees below normal. Our great weather looks to continue through tomorrow before some rain chances by Sunday PM. Chester County records for today: High 96 degrees at West Chester (1987) / Record low was just last year at Warwick Township at 36.3 degrees / Rain 5.34" in West Chester (1908)

AdMC shows us how to tell they are a climate alarmists without telling us......World is on fire!!! Fire bad!! LOL!!!!!!

Nice article below on the rationale and then highlight the "problem" with these post obs adjustments. https://climatecenter.fsu.edu/does-noaa-adjust-historical-climate-data

With the first month of summer almost here I thought I would rank the hottest summers (June thru August) on record since 1895. The actual averages below actually show that 80% of the hottest summers all occurred prior to the year 2000 (yellow highlights). With 50% of the hottest summer prior to 1960. However, take a look at how different this analysis looks if we allow the altering of the data by NOAA/NCEI. With those after the fact adjustments we now suddenly have 60% of the hottest summers just since 2000 and 9 of the top 10 warmest summers just since Y2K!! Keep in mind these adjusted/altered numbers will be what you see on your local and national TV outlets when they tell you how much hotter our summers are getting.

LOL!! you must have misread that article as it further supports the fact that man keeps chilling the past in this case with "tree ring data" to amplify the current warmer cycle.

Overnight lows across the county were mainly in the low 50's with East Nantmeal the chilly spot at 49.8 degrees. There was a large range in rain totals from last evening. Here in East Nantmeal we picked up 0.37" of rain . Some other totals across the county included Marshallton 0.67" / Warwick 0.61"/ Chester Springs 0.13" / Atgen 0.21" / Glenmoore 0.23" / Longwood Gardens 0.14" and West Chester 0.46". A great stretch of weather ahead through at least the next 5 days with our next rain chances not till Tuesday. Temps will be running below normal the next couple days before warming to near normal by Saturday. Chester County records for today: High 98 degrees at Phoenixville (1942) / Low 34 degrees also at Phoenixville (1949) / Rain 2.96" at Glenmoore (1990)

LOL!!! Welp except for the folks at The NWS who have recommended me and my observations as a trusted observer to local news outlets including the Philadelphia Inquirer and Chester County News outlets.....

I love the language of climate alarmists.....we "see an alarming warming trend"

Temperatures this morning across Chester County were as low as 50 degrees at Warwick Township. We should see sun this AM with clouds increasing and some showers and thunderstorms arriving from the southwest around the 5pm hour or so from west to east. After the showers tonight we have a great stretch of weather right through the upcoming weekend. Temps start below normal and end up near to above normal by early next week. Chester County wide records for today: High 95 degrees at Phoenixville (1941) / Low 32 degrees (this is the latest freezing observation on record in Chester County) at Phoenixville (1936) / Rain 3.25" also at Phoenixville (1990)

LOL! Fortunately the actual data is as always available to show no greater warming at EN during our current warming cycle than with the post hoc Altered NOAA data below. With of course the expected warming adjustments clearly applied and shown with the Altered data below. Our well documented problems occur of course with the past cooling of the older data and the more recent warming of the later data to make it seem somehow like our current warmer cycle never happened in the past.
