  1. Of note through yesterday PHL Airport is well on their way to a top 5 warmest June on record with an average temperature through yesterday at 75.5 degrees.....of course a far different story away from the PHL Airport heat island problem. The 14 Chester County NWS and MADIS sites are running almost 6 degrees cooler from 68.5 degrees at Warwick to as warm as 70.9 degrees at Longwood Gardens. We are only running 1 degree above normal for most of Chester County....this will not be a top 5 warmest June for the county.....now what you will hear about Philly on the news......

  3. Yesterday's high here in East Nantmeal was 85.4 our warmest day since the 85.9 back on April 29th. Most spots across the County failed to touch the 90 degree mark....but today should see most with the exception of the higher spots like East Nantmeal and Atlgen hitting 90 degrees. Many spots should see temps in the 90's over the weekend before the "heat wave" breaks and we see temps fall back into the mid to upper 80's. There can be some small rain chances starting on Friday night through the weekend. Chester County records for today: High 98 degrees at Phoenixville (1929) / Low 39 degrees at Devault (1954) / Record rain 2.88" at West Grove (1934)

  5. "mistakes" as Charlie calls it.....of course it must be a mistake!! LOL
  6. Hey Itstrainingtime....it looks like it did! Only 3 of the 14 NWS MADIS stations hit 90.....
  7. My NWS Point and Click doesn't have our first 90 degree high in East Nantmeal till Friday...."only" 89 the next 2 days! The NWS truly knows our climo here in NW Chesco
  8. Amazing how the data seems to show it really is!!! who would have thunk it!!
  9. as of 4pm only 4 sites have touched 90 degrees suspect only near half of locales will reach that rarified heat mark
  10. With the start of our heatwave for most places tomorrow....I thought I would highlight how relatively infrequent heatwaves (3 or more consecutive days exceeding 90 degrees) are here in Chester County PA. in just looking at the last 10 years. The below shows how the modest elevation above sea level differences across the county impact the prevalence of heatwaves. In fact the 2 highest locations East Nantmeal and Atglen have each only experienced 2 heatwaves during the past 10 years. The below is ranked by elevation from highest to lowest and there is a clear correlation to 90 degree days and heatwaves. Three of the top 6 higher spots have not seen a heatwave over the past 2 years. The lowest locale down in Phoenixville is the spot to be if you like heatwaves as they average 5 per year. While the highest spots will in most years not see a heatwave, Lower spots generally should expect only 1 heat wave per summer.

  12. The highest my point and click has is 98 on Friday ....in my backyard that will likely translate to a 94 at most I would suspect
  13. Even stations that did touch 90 degrees last year didn't see much above the low 90's at the relatively higher spots over 600 ft asl
  14. Temps today should reach the mid 80's in most spots before we reach the 90's starting tomorrow. The hottest day looks to be Friday. Very little chances of rain through the week. Records for today: Record High 100 degrees in Phoenixville (1957) / Low 38 degrees at Devault (1958) / Rain 4.00" in Morgantown/Elverson (1982)

  16. I will be very surprised if I top 90 degrees.....but here's hoping been a long time. The last rounded 90+ day was almost 2 years ago 89.7 July 23, 2022. The last true 90+ day is now almost 3 years ago here in East Nantmeal with the 91.2 on June 30, 2021
  17. High Temps ranged from the low to mid 80's yesterday across the County. Today we should see temps well into the 80's today before a cold front passes later in the day which will cool us back to near normal over the weekend. Temps begin to warm and some solid heat sets in with widespread 90's likely starting on Tuesday. Chester County records for today: High 99 degrees at Phoenixville (1943) / Low 41 degrees at West Chester (1985) / Rain 1.91" also in West Chester (1917)

  19. Charlie "a silly result" is typical of what alarmists say when the actual data does not support their views. Also just to make sure you are clear on this "the shifting station populations" of the modern stations is actually and factually skewed much more to the warmer lower elevations.Just keeping it real!!
  20. Temps in some spots like Warwick and Nottingham Townships touched the chilly 40's this morning. Today will be our 5th straight below normal....but last such day for a while. We begin a solid warming trend this PM although with the exception of some valley spots in the county any 90+ degree readings may have to wait till early next week. The next chance of showers looks like Friday late PM. Chester County records for today: High 97 degrees at Phoenixville (1956) / Record low 34 degrees also at Phoenixville (1972) / Rain 4.35" at Devault (1968)

  22. Lows this morning reached as low as 51.7 at Chester Springs but only 57.9 in higher spots like East Nantmeal. Today will be our 4th straight below normal day with temps no higher than the low to mid 70's. Chester County records for today: High 98 degrees at West Chester (2008) / Low 35 degrees also at West Chester (1972) / Rain 3.30" at Coatesville (1968)

Another cool day tomorrow before the warming trend kicks in on Wednesday with the warmest day being Friday with temps near 90 degrees.
