  1. Today was our 14th below normal day in the last 24 days and 3rd of 4 days so far here in July.
  2. Another new daily record max low this AM at 72.7 - breaking the old Western Chesco mark of 70 set in 2001
  3. Set a new record max low yesterday - besting the old mark set of 72.1 set in 2010. Should see our 1st clean 90 of the season today
  4. KPTW did hit 90 today along with every other reporting station with the exception of KMPO 88 / KMQS 87.8 / East Nantmeal 87.9 and my other 2 stations with 87.3 on the Tempest and 86.4 on the Ambient. Maybe tomorrow we see our 1st clean 90 of the year?
  5. Temp already up to 87.9 (99.9 H.I) in East Nantmeal while after a 9am high of 81.9 down the shore - the sea breezed kicked in and knocked temps down to the mid 70's - for sure it's the place to be
  6. Updated Philadelphia PA vs. Chester County PA 1894 to Present - all summer seasons and below that by decades with trend lines overlaid. The heat island impacts really began to widen the gap starting all the way back in the 1930's and of course that gap is accelerating during the most recent years Quote Average Chester County PA Snow at elevations over 660 FT ASL (1983-Present) = 36.3": Snow totals by season: 2020/21 snow (52.2") / 2019/20 snow (5.8" )/ 2018/19 snow (35.1" )/ 2017/18 snow (58.5") / 2016/17 snow (24.0")/ 2015/16 snow (40.8")/ 2014/15 snow = (55.3") /2013/14 snow (80.0") . Heat Island Tracker from 2015 thru 2021 the PHL airport has recorded 215 days at 90 degrees+ while KMQS, KPTW and East Nantmeal combined have seen only 139 such days / 2021 (90+) days to date KPHL (9) / KMQS (2)/ KPTW (2) and East Nantmeal (1) Check out my historical Western Chester County PA website at https://www.chescowx.com and follow me on twitter at https://twitter.com/ChescoWx
  7. Of course not close to a 90 here in the western burbs of philly with only a high of 83.9 here in East Nantmeal 84.2 on the Ambient station and 84.7 on the roof with the Tempest along with 86 at KMQS / 88 at at KPTW and just a wee bit above KMPO with their 83.....the soaring peaks of the Welsh Mountain doing it's magic today!!
  8. Sound a bit high....is your thermometer in the sun without a heat shield? Even the PHL heat island was only 91.....
  9. Of course May was 0.5 below normal....but agreed a rare event during our current warming phase of climate change....
  10. 10 of the last 14 days with today's forecast will have been below normal....
  11. No luck with any 40's in the peaks of the Welsh Mountain anticline but close yesterday and low 50's this AM. Today will mark 10 of the last 14 days with below normal temps....
  12. no doubt there are much lower spots across Berks County than here in Western Chesco.....but with the NWS obs (see below) starting with today on the far left with not a sniff of a 90 at any location in the philly burbs....makes you wonder if your thermometer is sited in the sun (big problem if there is no heat aspiration shield) - if your station does not have a fan aspirated shield than a nice shady spot on the north side of your property will help out
  13. It looks like something is not quite right with the temp obs out of the Reading area....there was not even 1 reading at any locations outside of the heat island coastal plain at even 86 degrees with any modest elevation. Is your thermometer sited correctly? Is your thermometer located in direct sunlight without a solid fan aspirated radiation shield?? that could explain your high readings??
  14. Today was only our 3rd above normal day in the last 10 days in NW Chester County PA with our Hi/Lo splits at 83.2/62.7....while down the shore in beautiful Sea Isle City NJ a beautiful sea breeze high of only 78.8
  15. Beauty of a day both down the shore in Sea Isle City where the sea breeze battled the synoptic wind with the temp varying 10 degrees over the afternoon hours depending on the wind direction but temps at the beach did peak at 78.6 during one of the late PM land breeze time frames....while back in NW Chesco in East Nantmeal we saw our 5th of the last 6 days with below normal temps with our splits of 74.3/57.9
  16. 0.52" as of 130pm here in East Nantmeal - today will be the 2nd lowest max for the date with our 66.0 at midnight - the record is the 65.8 back in 2004
  17. Beautiful night here in NW Chester County PA with dews now in the 40's - no shocker but out here in NW Chesco our "heatwave" never came close to fruition....best we could do was the "dirty" 90 on Sunday at 89.8....no doubt more chances of heat waves here in the NW burbs....but can we break through to the other side??? stay tuned - the drama continues!
  18. 2.26" of rain in the CoCo / 1.67" on VP2 and only 1.24" on the Tempest.....hmmm High temp today 83.9 - only 1 dirty 90 here during this heat streak in NW Chesco where heat waves come to die!
  19. Up to 1.19" on the VP more in the CoCo bucket multiple water rescues being reported on route 30 between Coatesville and Downingtown....as mentioned prone to flooding with Route 30 being the low spot surrounded by the North and South Valley Hills ramping up pretty quickly from 200 ft asl at 30 up to near 550 ft pretty quickly
