  1. Yeah, let's get it over with and let this mediocre foliage season die with a little dignity. It's like when your pack is 40 days old in March, glacial in some spots and ripe in others, riddled with pine needles and snow fleas... just kill it.
  2. Some heavy stuff heading our way shortly. Can't wait to see the waterfalls back in action tomorrow. Also getting a little breezy out of the south, but nothing noteworthy yet.
  3. I suspect we'll dryslot fairly early, but that could be our window for the strongest gusts barring any kind of sting jet feature in the morning. The HRRR has the precip shutting off around midnight and it did fairly well with the last system.
  4. You know what, I'm just going to be an unabashed for the rest of today. I deserve it after the almighty summer of ennui.
  5. EPS mean for KPOU: 4.5" of rain and peak 58 mph gusts. You can't ask for a much more intense forecast than that.
  6. Anyone know why I can't hotlink imgur files anymore?
  7. Probably 99% of us barely see wet pavement but someone slantgauges their way to 5.74" so the bust police will forbid us from being disappointed.
  8. SB 51, 3rd quarter. Somebody somewhere sold their soul or something.
  9. My generator broke right after Sandy and I never replaced it due to apparent lack of need as there haven't been any power issues since then. We'll see what happens Sunday.
  10. Yeah, but CAA ensures no fake cold so who's to say?
  11. It seems like there's a demarcating line somewhere separating abysmal foliage south and decent foliage north. The sugar maples in my yard have been on fire this week, maybe the most vibrant since planting them about 15 years ago. I'll get a pic or two up soon.
  12. Hiking in Harriman this evening was an all-out leaf blizzard which I was glad to see for reasons you mention. The colors suck down that way anyway so no big loss. Had some awesome lighting conditions though for the second evening in a row.
  13. Last night's Euro with a 966mb low tucked inland... the weenie algorithms printing out 70+ mph gusts west of the river and 4-8" of rain. This would rival the great fall nor'easters of all time if some of this guidance verifies.
  14. She took the post down but in the comments she was raving about how they use Doppler radar to create tornadoes for population control... it was a trip.
  15. HRRR has under an inch for most of us now. We meh as usual.
  16. The plastic flamingos really look lifelike down there.
  17. Discovered some pockets of pretty epic color in the bowels of Litchfield Counter this morning. Not huge swaths, but little stands of trees near swamps and lowlands that are as vibrant as any other year. Ticks are out in full force too... found 7 on me after walking a couple of miles around a lake.
  18. Yeah, there's *still* a lot of green so I don't think we stick just yet, but it's starting to look mighty breezy on Tuesday ahead of the front... deep mixed layer with 50kt barbs down to basically 950mb. That could be hurricane force gusts in the mountains.
  19. Not sure if you're seeing it but it's getting legitimately vibrant on some hillsides around here. It should really pop with the unsettled wx this week poised to break up the relentless harsh sunlight.
  20. Some of the erstwhile green trees in my area have picked up some nice orange and red shades after those few chilly nights. Almost looks like fall in some spots.
  21. This. People have a very static view of the weather... nothing ever changes over time or distance. Folks in like Kingston watching the weather report for NYC and thinking it applies to them down to the degree or inch of snow.
