It's doing a lot of weird shit....probably from a combo of the meso lows, shallow cold, and strong dynamics moving up from the south.

The NAM also had 170kts at 500mb off the east coast. That's absurd. Not sure if that's correct, but that has to be uncharted territory.

NAM looks colder for Friday. Rather icy interior MA and maybe even nrn CT.

It also is less on front end like gfs. So looks like it got that wrong too.

Euro still pretty chilly at surface, but always seems to be too cool at least aloft with these a few days out as it comes NW. it had the monumental fail a few weeks ago in Maine.
