I think NW RI has a 7+ spot there. Might never know. I'm not surprised when looking back. Tough to predict, but the forcing was there.

It could be some downsloping or subsidence in the mid levels. I mean clearly he had the QPF, but it only takes one small thing to not be right in a borderline profile, and that's it.

CC shows it slowly moving west. Will probably stall and move SE as it also cools aloft. Might be light snows tonight into tomorrow morning.

Looks like radar drying out a bit except for the fronto bands. That was modeled too.
