  1. Phin, just so you know...his name is Dave Epstein. He’s a meteorologist and an avid gardener. He hates dry periods....so because we are all clowns...we embellish it and give him the name Droughtstein.
  2. Let’s do this a week+ from now. Still in summer mode.
  3. I think having snow around is a good thing. I definitely want a pack. It’s also where I live. If I lived where Tamarack lives the would be A big part Of my winter grade. Around here packs come and go.
  4. Droughtstein definitely payed a visit to many of us. Convection always can be localized and there has been a few haves...but we have not. He's still here laughing and pointing at the burnt patches of my lawn.
  5. NOW MOS on the other hand does use climo more in the extended and that can mute any signal.
  6. Just splitting wood in his own wet spot.
  7. They would mute any extreme anomaly because of the nature of ensembles. They don’t use climo to mute it, it would be due to varying solutions that can start to mute a signal one way or another. For instance 30 members may show a cold front staying west with warm 850 temps, but then another 20 members bring the front east and show rain and cooler temps. That’s how to dumb down a signal.
  8. I’m impressed with how deep that trough is modeled. Signs of the times.
  9. I sit alone in my 4 cornered room staring at radar.
  10. Might have to watch southern areas later Tuesday and Wednesday for rain, but that looks south at the moment. Otherwise Thursday and Friday are toasty. Cool down Labor Day weekend and then warm Labor Day. After, an extremely deep trough is modeled to dive into Midwest. We then wait to see what pops in the tropics.
  11. We warm and dry for Augdewust. Nice this morning though.
  12. Well just to be clear, I like the snow and cold (not bitter). My point was only that if I were to get 7’ of snow and have it disappear...I can’t be that mad after witnessing something as epic as that. I do hope winter is snowy.
  13. I’m certainly not saying I don’t care about pack. I most definitely prefer it. But it’s not our climo. I enjoy the big events. I’m sure when I lose a foot of snow this winter I’ll cry like a biatch.
  14. About .20” here. Grass is coming back with recent rains and lower sun angle.
  15. Spinner heading for shallow graves in srn VT.
  16. I’ve always felt that. I’m not a snowpack guy. I mean yeah if we have a good pack I’m all for it, but we live for anomalies.
  17. The more I get older, the more I find being in the moment of the big events means so much more. Even if I knew it would be gone in 12hrs....we are all weenies because we want to experience something anomalous. I’d rather have 7’ of snow in 3 days disappear in 12 hours instead of a crusty pack from multiple SWFEs.
  18. Yeah it’s all about the vertical. Who cares if you are 11k up on a plateau.
