  1. Sitting here near Rolla, MO at the Road Ranger truckstop on I-44 about 80 miles safely south of the blizzard. Ran into a bit of rain getting here, and now some wind blown drizzle, but that was it. Thank God!!!
  2. It sure is, and thanks! Now if can only get out of Weis in Milton. Seven hours to get unloaded today, and all for a load that someone else got paid the miles (from Bakersfield CA) on. I'm beyond pissed off...
  3. If I take 70/76, I'll probably go down 11/15 to 81 to Carlisle, although 11/15 is a major road in it's own right. I just really hate and somewhat fear ice. If there is any winter precip that scares me it's freezing rain. Looking at models, it does look to be brief, but I'll likely be rolling somewhere right at the onset...
  4. Of course. Boarder to boarder. Doesn't matter which way I go (I-80 or I-70/76), I can possibly run into some icy conditions as the timing is just right...
  5. Lowest we got here this morning was 10, so no single digits for my backyard.
  6. This "blows chunks" as I have to roll Saturday morning by 6am from Wilkes-Barre down to Milton for an 8am delivery at Weis Markets, then pick up across the Susquehanna in Lewisburg before heading west to New Mexico. CTP's latest discussion does NOT look good for my morning travels... It`s looking more likely that an icy mix will arrive Saturday morning and could make for disruptive and potentially hazardous post-Thanksgiving travel. The retreating arctic airmass is to blame as cold air remains entrenched in the low levels across the interior Alleghenies. Cold ground/surface temperatures may also be a contributing factor for an ice glaze as readings slowly rebound from single digits and teens just 24hrs prior to onset. Ptypes should trend to all rain by Saturday afternoon.
  7. Graupel in Tamaqua, but light. Not a squall, yet.
  8. Thanks guys! I'm going to probably leave out of our terminal around 6am. I'm guessing I'll be going through there late morning. We see how things go I guess.
  9. No..... I go back out in the truck on Saturday morning. Picking up in Lewisburg going to Albuquerque. Was going to take 80 out to Ohio, but now may go south on 11/15 to Harrisburg/Carlisle and take the Pike west. Only thing is the Laurels?
  10. Sitting here at the Flying J in Brookville on I-80 watching it snow...
  11. Apparently, per Facebook reports, we had thunder here when the CCB rolled through. If so, I was sleeping and missed it... Other than that, we got about a 1/4 inch of sleet after the changeover last night, and right at 1 inch from the CCB. Puts the total frozen for the event at 7.75 inches in my backyard.
  12. Look closely at this photo. There is one nearly perfect dendrite sitting front and center catching the light in among all that snow! Pretty cool!!!
  13. Not me... I was safely tucked away here at home for this one. I had a new roof put on the house this week and decided to take the whole week off. I'm SO glad I did. Had I come back out of the house today I probably would have a noon appointment to pick up a load, and since it takes 2-3 hours to load, would have been out there at the WORST possible time. I'm uploading a short video to Youtube about it now.
  14. A light mix of sleet and freezing rain now. It flipped shrtly after my last post, so 6.5" and in a holding pattern for now.
  15. 6.5" so far here. Still snowing, but not as hard. The worst part is it's total gridlock on the roads. Every major hill here around Tamaqua is shut down.
  16. My wife is still at work. Wish they'd have let her go early. I am glad I took the week off as we we're getting a new roof. Better to be home than piloting a big rig, although my time will come eventually.
  17. Tamaqua... 5 inches now and still heavy snow here. Pretty much been at inch/hour rates most of the afternoon.
  18. 5 inches now and still heavy snow here. Pretty much been at inch/hour rates most of the afternoon.
  19. I know. You always wonder when the temp is going up and it hasn't started yet. Just went out to measure, and I have 3.25" already and it only started at 11:40am.
  20. For once I can say "it's puking snow up here"...lol And it is. Big, beautiful dendrites that are piling up rather quickly. I'm guessing, since I didn't measure yet, that we have between 1 and 2 inches down already. Also the temp dropped from 31f right before it started to 27f now. What's amazing is how cold this one is. Other November storms that I remember were warmer. I was outside doing a video segment in my backyard, and it felt more like January than November.
  21. Yeah, Google Maps traffic is UGLY... Every road is dark red, accidents everywhere, and it looks like I-83 northbound is closed going up over Reeser's Summit
  22. I was kind of shocked, honestly. We're all snow now, but the initial shot was pellets.
  23. It tapered off a bit at the moment, but seeing more and more flakes mixing in. The initial shot, even though it was sleet, was rather impressive!
