Just did a core. 9.5" and 0.35" L.E. thats 27:1. I dunno, they're not as far off as I thought. I still call Bullsh!t on 40:1. I trust my rigor over ASOS junk, if that's what they use. Or maybe Millenials were measuring. They're generally off.
Correction, 7" new today total.
Actually, it looks like 9" is actual. Just measured in front of house on a slate walkway...which couldnt have accumulated efficiently in daylight due to melting and its on lee side of house. Insane.
Wayne Meagher, Syracuse OCM, thinks heaviest snow axis runs NW-SE betrween about Geneva and Syracuse tonight...6-10" there, 3-6" just outside that area. Syr and my place right on his map boundary for 6-10...
Still SN- here downtown Cuse but radar lighting up closer to lake...Fulton looking much better on radar with some higher returns starting to show...hoping it fills and expands.
Good catch, that makes perfect sense. Downsloped FTL!
The sounding I posted is a forecast one and shows a NW wind below 700mb level...But if it's really N or NE...
This has to be due to limited forcing/lift, or it's not adequately co-located with the best Snow Growth Zone, I think. There's sufficient moisture present and it's cold enough. If we had a real meteorologist in this forum they could probably better analyze the sounding. I only masquerade as one on 4Chan.
KSYR has a shot at 150" for season which is an honest winter by any account. The record is about 195" or thereabouts (1992/93). Gonna be hard to approach that without another Storm O'Century type event here. And how many of thesse major storm opportunities can there possibly be left in the pipeline?
NWS forecast for my place has 5" today and 4" tonight. I'm in Syracuse at work, flake size a bit better in last hour but it has to improve to get 5"...Roads of course are fine here.
GFS 00Z Clown below...very similar if not identical to 3K NAM Clown for SYR...10”...
total of 2.5” with that burst of snow earlier. Storm total of 4.5” here.
Still going here but on its death throws for intensity. Dare I say theree is a touch of backbuilding happening on the north edge of this band? Might keep lesser rate going a while.
Meanwhile, KBGM snow map goosed up a hair.
