Happy New Year.

This! And he's still at it right here.

2014 - 15 2015 was close to as wall to wall as we get. December was more like Galveston, but from mid January through the end of March was wall to wall winter. We had nearly 70" of snow and some ridiculous cold. The last of the snow didn't melt until the opening days of April; when does that ever happen on LI?. 95-96 is certainly a contender (95" here) but instead of the late start, it had more interruptions in the middle.

December 2021 Obs/Disco...Dreaming of a White-Weenie Xmas
NorthShoreWx replied to 40/70 Benchmark's topic in New England
I tested positive on Friday (Christmas Eve). Messed up the holiday for us, but I'm not sick. Had a scratchy throat one night; that's it. Wife still has me locked in the cupboard under the stairs. Lose track of time in here alternating between digging an escape tunnel and reading AMWx. She's not impressed with CDC halving the quarantine guideline from 10 days to 5. damned nurses. -
Compared to most winters, there's a lot of weight in the snowpack on Fairbanks roofs, especially after yesterday's messy storm (almost 2" new LE). I wonder if they're experiencing any structural failures.
-
Here's something you don't see this time of year. The rain was preceded by a significant ice storm (and snow before that). Precipitation/snowfall in Fairbanks has been way above normal for December. Meanwhile, the summer weather in the deep south features some energetic thunderstorms in Chicagoland tonight, and more than 1 round of them at that.

Much cooler than forecasted here this afternoon. Max was 36 and it's 33 at 5pm. Edit: actually not that much cooler. Forecast was for high 30s. I was thinking of yesterday's forecast which called for 40s today.

I hope you all feel better. This thing is everywhere in a flash so hopefully it'll be gone just as fast. As for the weather, y'all just been like little rays of sunshine lately. MJO variant my arse.☺️ Cheers.

I don't find it irritating. Probably because he's a lot kinder than his "mirror image".

Got down to 29 here this am. Dry air helps, like a year ago November when we had a run of days in the 70s with frosty nights.
-
Most of the stations around here more than about 2 or 3 miles from the sound were below freezing this morning.
-
34 here. Could be proximity to the sound, or maybe we had more breeze (or both)

Looks like a diamond in the rough for fishy snow lovers south of central LI. And a 24" snowfall gradient over about 3 blocks in South Jersey. Something is fishy about this map.

If I had a white Christmas for every time that actually happened only to be followed by a 60° Christmas eve Grinch storm, that would be a lot more white Christmases than we've actually seen. Still, this year it would seem like a fair trade-off.

Light snow 33. First coating, but not much. It's a bit heavier out on the forks. Pretty:

Particularly the Norway Maples. There's a few around here with one corner of the tree or another hanging on to some yellow leaves. The red and sugar maples have been done for a while.
