Oh, I was referring to the question of whether it was the start of daily operations, within the upcoming weather (guidance all over the place) and if a warm solution comes to fruition, it could wreck the man-made, so figure they are going to get the opening day as a milestone accomplishment. --- In terms of Vail and how they are investing in Wildcat, one can only imagine that somewhere on the 5-15 year plan is a major upgrade in the Cat. For now, I'm just going to enjoy it for what it is, and perhaps venture to Attitash once in a while. Onward!

Not sure. I think with the effort put into the snow making, it only makes sense for them to get an opening date out of the way and tucked into their records before the questionable antics of the upcoming system. Looks like it is one top to bottom run (3 trails connected) and they are running the quad.

This is Cherry Pond in Jefferson NH, picture taken around 2pm on 11/20. I would think with the cold last night and today, the entire pond is likely frozen over. In nearby news from the evening walk, it is cool to see the ice formations already underway on the creeks and tributaries to the Androscoggin River.

Thursday 9 a.m. opening day https://www.facebook.com/wildcatmountain/videos/1830721943929348 bring it on!

Definitely a good taste of winter today up in Coos County, hiking near 2,000 feet and the winds were strong and biting. Just after sunset, experienced a solid band of snow while driving through Jefferson/Randolph just north of the Presidential Range and then turning into Gorham up to Berlin and the night sky was clear with many stars. Let's see the single digits tomorrow morning!

Evening stroll in town and the sound of air conditioners and outside parties!

Coldest morning of the year at 23 at 7 a.m. Low sun angle blazing through the front windows does a pretty good job to warm up the home.

Enjoying the wind direction shift and lowering temperatures, and captured a short-lived rainbow. This is looking NNW towards Milan in New Hampshire. Usually I see rainbows after the rain, this was on the approach.

Indeed bullish, but they certainly have the means to pull it off with 8 hours tonight and tomorrow night, Killington will most likely have the ski season underway at north ridge.
-
Good stuff. Excluding the storm that produces this precipitation event, the evolution of the air masses in Canada and how they move through the larger scale flow is fairly realistic.
-
Mansfield shots look great! First glance of the Presidential range looks like frozen precipitation glazed the peaks down through 4500 feet. Will have to venture closer to get a look this afternoon.
-
Frontal passage successfully lowered the temperature from a balmy afternoon high of 77 to a reading of 52 and continue dropping as of 7 p.m. Just a few periods of big rain drops, but I could tell that some locations probably got wet, it just missed my locale. Bring on more fropa!

The backdrop of the green and dark green coniferous trees with the red/orange/yellow is quite telling to understand where these evergreens and pines are situated. Once we enter stick season it is visible but not with the same contrast. --- In the past two days started to notice a slight uptick in the amount of fallen leaves on the Presidential rail trail (from Gorham through Randolph), but there is still a ton of canopy of colors attached to the trees!

Good color on-going up here at Cates Hill in Berlin NH, taken from the east side of the Androscoggin River. My seasonal home up here is hard to find on the picture, but I'm in the lower right hand trees. We've had solid frost with temperatures of 27 the past two mornings.

I think its a smart move to reduce demand and works towards the goal of the best mountain experience for the required minimum amount of guests. --- I have an epic northeast pass that affords me several non holiday days at stowe, but I'll be staying local to wildcat and attitash. Bring on the snow! Sent from my SM-G981U using Tapatalk

Rain in Newport on the coastline

At sugarloaf and definitely strong winds last night and now ramping up more so. Lots of wetness as well. Completely opposite of why I planned this trip, but grateful that any action packed weather is good stuff!
-
3 inches before 8pm and an additional 5+ inches upon inspection this morning. While not the best situation for automobiles, it is nice to see the streets unpaved and people driving slowly. With cool temperatures all day, should make for a great evening walk to celebrate the season of winter!

Good report on WV, that was my old stomping grounds in the 80's for high school and my knees have a personal connection to the moguls on true grit under the Sunnyside Triple. Places like Waterville an Wildcat with one lift that services the entire mountain are truly enjoyable, however the desire to explore still results in checking out all places. Good stuff!

So great. Post some snowbank pictures!

Experienced Sunday River on January 30th and 31st. Sunday was packed and I couldn't handle the crowd, but Monday was really good. Mostly packed powder on the groomers and about a foot or more of off trail action.
-
Snow continues at a brisk pace in Gorham NH, should be interesting how much snow is at Sunday River on Sunday!
-
Relocated to Gorham NH and snow continues to pickup, perhaps 6 inches so far, but looks like a few more hours of action.

Good stuff. Aiming to check out Sunapee for Saturday. Ironically, I'm leaving Newport RI this evening for a few days up north, but my original plans to leave on Saturday are no longer possible. Now my neighbors can park entirely in my driveway and also do the deed of shoveling it out!
