Winter time is hard on the broadcast transmitter site. It's the highest such site in the eastern US...on Clingmans Peak, adjacent to Mt. Mitchell. Thanks for supporting public radio.
I'm going to have to make up my mind soon on whether to try and go to WNCW in Spindale Saturday afternoon for my airshift that night, or to cut it here in the studio. I don't want to be driving back up my road to the house early Sunday morning in this potential weather.
Good way to get things started. Initial band looks about played out here in Pleasant Gardens. 1"+ . Might just have to stay up late to see what happens early this coming morning.
30.6 degrees with very light snow at 6:26p
I left Pleasant Gardens today at 2p to pop over the divide to Black Mountain. It was 48 here at the house and 68 in Ridgecrest 30 minutes later on my way back home.
Yep. Hope y'all get the 'rona whipped in your family, BTW. County numbers here, via WLOS, are at a ~30% positivity rate. That just won't do. And we still haven't seen a Christmas bump yet...
While I wanted just to idly sit and watch it fall, I had a recording session (tomorrow) that I needed to set up for...
It snowed here right up until around 4. Might have been a bit of rain mixed in once when I stopped to look. Still snow on the decks.
Sure was a nice, purdy surprise!
