Thats already a done deal if this lasts more than a few weeks. We need to get out of this as quickly as possible, or get things back to as normal as we reasonably can quickly. People have nest eggs, but not big ones, and it will take YEARS to recover from CURRENT status. We will not roar out of this....no way....no how....and as soon as the next alarm sounds.....Lord help those of us who are left.

I"m glad you guys are laughing....I'm not one bit. Not 1 bit of humor in anything I stated. I amended my post to add source for you skeptics. 100% written by me.

You forgot a tens of millions of other people dude........ How about any hourly worker.... How about anyone in manufacturing....... How about fully commissioned sales. How about travel industry How about the restaurant/bar industry. How about anyone that supports the state/govt run systems (hourly). They say they will get a bail out. Do you realize how many people are potentially represented above?? Many of us will not get a bail out, and if we don't have a company to come back to work for.....it will not cover the utilities or groceries, so pick one and do without the other (oh, that's assuming we all have our homes paid off and no mortgage.) Were doing SOOOO much to truly protect sooo few.... Not for 1 second do i diminish the loss of ANY life, but, our actions/inaction's etc will have a much farther reaching long term economic impact to the 10's of milions that will not get bailed out in the private sector.....worse yet, they may not have a job/company to come back to. We need our jobs. I know this will cause me some bashing....don't care. I'm not going to debate w/ any either. Its how I feel, and I'm not expecting to have a bunch of likes. I'm scared shitless right now. Clients are cancelling so much work.... Some facts to back up what may be deemed narrow minded statements: H1N1 cases - https://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/yearinreview/yir5.htm Veteran Suicide -https://iava.org/blogs/2019-national-veteran-suicide-prevention-annual-report/ The Department of Veterans Affairs released its 2019 National Veteran Suicide Prevention Annual Report on Friday which showed that at least 60,000 veterans have died by suicide between 2008 and 2017. In 2017, more than 6,100 veterans died by suicide, an increase of 2% over 2016 and a total increase of 6% since 2008. During that same time period, the veteran population decreased 18% from 23 million to 19.8 million. Global Cancer - 2002 - https://ourworldindata.org/cancer While it is absolutely necessary to protect the citizens most at risk 65+, and those w/ compromised health, but I'm nauseous at what the death toll of businesses will be..... How many jobs lost....... loss of healthcare as a result....... Save a spot in the food line for me would ya..... I've spoken w/ medical professionals, clients, coworkers, and we all think this is crazy and could do much more damage societally then the Covid 19 will ever do. While we differ on the best approach, the millions that you hear that think its overblown, also have underlying fear of losing everything. Whats the bigger loss in the end? Our society cant handle the run on assistance/food/shelter/healthcare for those affected by what I've stated above. Just think about it outside of your little circles folks. Futhermore, we are now setting a precedent for every other flue/virus to do this all over again. We cannot sustain this kind of hysteria every year, and many will not sustain this one. Private sector is scared shitless right now....and we should be. When the public sector sees the loss in taxes due to unemployment, they too will feel the burn alright. Look at the graphs I posted, and study them long and hard before you decide to troll/bash. No graph above caused mass hysteria or runs on toilet paper FFS. 50% of all that get NCovid 19. (or already have), will likely not even be reported....Imagine how many had H1N1 and didnt report it....and i have a compromised immune system btw. Watch what you wish for folks...... Back to the cave.....after I wash my hands. Edited to add sources for Atomix and any other who thinks I make this terrible stuff up...wow. The rest is me myself and the opinions of many that i respect. One a head ER nurse at Wellsboro solders and Sailors hospital One Advance EMT at same hospital. Owner of Hiltz propane systems local pizza shop owner (Sals). And many just normal worker bees like myself who are concerned. The web is full of information. Took 5 min to find my sources. Continue w/ your panic.....

Dude...I'm telling ya. You MUST do it. SOOO fun. If you go to Brantingham, they used to rent them (Kovach's I think). Then stop across the street and have a pint at the Pine Tree for me (and feed the deer). God I love that place.

Fixed and let me help you.... I'm out...........TTFN gang.... dont worry, you wont miss me too much. Hopefully I'll be back. This wasn't fun and I'm gettin tired to losing to the warmies, wherever they are. Gonna go enjoy it all the same. Bigger things to get upset about in life. This surely isn't one of em. Happy early spring peeps! If i see a change, I'll come help post snowmaps for Blizz. -
Absolutely. When I mentioned the bolded earlier, thats what my thoughts were as well. Let that bad boy spray and it gets everyone into something, but not likely one steady streamer just parked over Montague/Carthage or northern local where they get 36'' and just to the north and south 6-12". If you've ever snowmobiled up there, it is almost surreal to be in one area that you can barely get around w/ so much snow, and then within 15 min ride....your almost searching for it to get through. It's really something to witness if you have the chance. I was up there around 10ish years back when they got 11' from a multi day event. I have pics if I can find them, I'll post them. Cams looking good....even here in northern PA. Hope it piles up big for yall. Nut

Boy, this event makes me miss snowmobiling on the hill (I am headed back in a couple weeks - conditions permitting). Based on wind direction alone, I'd give unnecessary body parts to be sitting in or @ Sears Pond/Montague/Carthage/Lowville for this event. Seems like of late, southern tug ie. Redfield/pulaski/altmar areas have been the winners. This has a true WSW component until the death band starts it pivot south tomorrow. Cams looking pretty good right now (on the hill mind you). Enjoy. Nut

Yeah, I've gotta say that when I saw some of the totals being thrown around yesterday, I was a little surprised. This storm, like every other this year, is on the move, and with the progressive theme intact, I think its tough for the widespread totals to verify. Of course, wrt the LES banding, there will be some winners for sure, but as that band presses south tomorrow, it really never "sets up" for anyone. IMO, I think you can take totals and divide by 2. Boy I hope I'm wrong, but the fetch looks more like an unmanned firehose. All that said, I'm still really jealous and happy for you guys. Take what you can get in this craptastic winter. Good luck.

Im checkin in from the "next state down". I'm pulling for FEET for everyone up there. We are living vicariously through you all. What a suck ass winter down here.
-
Thats something I've been pondering over....banding, and how it can be a bandit, stealing away ones snow, while burying another local. It seems that the flow will vacillate a bit friday evening, but I could see what you (and some models) suggest happening. If i were taking the sled up to the hill, I'd be looking at Montague to Redfield as well....but I'm also not convinced that the larger scale synoptic event happens for "everyone".

but weve seen +5 AO this year...and it wasnt that bad last year ( Im sure you and your stats gurus can find that # out for us). That said, the boundary line has reacted accordingly and went further North....so we cut further west (which can work when the AO/NAO are neg enough to keep the boundary closer. -

HMM?? You dont see the red blob above Nova Scotia?? And if that's not good enough, the AO/NAO are headed down at this time. Blocking is less important when those 2 are - and pressing south as they force the boundary below us. I'd take my chances any day and 2x on Sunday's w/ that look....even if it doesnt work out. -

Just looking over 12z ENS and it appears that the GEFS/EPS are continuing to show a quicker/better look starting around 7 days from now, and fwiw, it looked rather decent through the rest of the run. GEPS not quite as quick, but still getting there....closer. Gut says that as long as all stars continue to align, we may have a late season tracking session coming up. -

"Groomers" are basically de-oxiginating the snow....thus making whichever (real/man made) more dense. Some years back on the Tug Hill....my sled broke down, so I spent the day in a groomer with the Barnes Corners Sno Pals groomer operator...asking all kinds of questions to Paul as to what they do and why they do it. As at that time, i was just getting involved w/ our club up at the cabin, and at time we had a groomer. Pretty cool stuff if your into snow. Sorry if the off topic stuff is boring any. Consider it your useless trivia for the day. -

Maybe someone can clarify, but I think the density of man made is greater than natural, giving it more resiliency. I know when I skied, I preferred the real deal....but man made is better than nothing at all. -

No worries...was just adding to your point. I only brought the others in because unlike a ski slope....we rely solely on the lakes or synoptic events to "do our thing". I can go to roundtop/poconos tonight and still get my snow fix in. That's what I was gettin at. -

If you saw my post the other day wrt something needs to pop on the base of the trough that is getting established.....you're seeing what I was hoping for. CMC had a good one show up this morning....but its the cmc.....and its an op at length....and we know how this years been. Short of that, we've got a chance. -

you can add snowmobiing, ice fishing..... I think you are spot on w/ it being more episodal than epidemic. Now if 10 years from now, we are still where we are.....we're gonna need to rethink our thinking. -

Yeah....thats for sure. When you are lacking a 120-160 deg fetch off the lakes, and you are too far south in latitude to avoid being cut....yeah its ugly for them as well. They have had more than a handful of events (and were snowmobiling in the laurels over the last 2 weeks....but they like most south of 80 cant hold in this pattern.
