  1. Toughest year of my professional life coming up. The emails from parents are already flying and we haven’t even started yet... Anyway, today was a great day to spend outdoors. Hiked the local bump, then took a final plunge into the pool. Maybe one next weekend...68F pool temp
  2. Great day for a hike up Wachusett. Summit was about as crowded as I’ve ever seen it though.
  3. If anyone is considering a Wachusett season pass and wants to save a few bucks, send me a message. I have a GPS group.
  4. If you are working under the table and something bad happens to the kid you are fooked. No protection
  5. Yeah but then you are open for things like lawsuits etc. the $2200 would pay for insurance and lawyers etc as well Thats still nuts.
  6. Our burning bushes are starting to turn red
  7. Gather ye Rose-buds while ye may, Old Time is still a-flying: And this same flower that smiles to day, To morrow will be dying. The glorious Lamp of Heaven, the Sun, The higher he's a getting; The sooner will his Race be run, And neerer he's to Setting. That Age is best, which is the first, When Youth and Blood are warmer; But being spent, the worse, and worst Times, still succeed the former. Then be not coy, but use your time; And while ye may, go marry: For having lost but once your prime, You may forever tarry.
  8. Last night into this morning were pretty gross. Ran the AC at home. In my classroom the floor is slippery
  9. Only around 0.15” here today. Just a damp misty day with some showers. 66.7F high. Furnace
  10. Now I want tacos. Wachusett Brewery stopped selling their fish tacos this summer. I miss them.
  11. I personally have no issues with it. I like doing it. If my elderly mother in law (89?)can make one less trip into a crowd (even non Covid related...her driving isn’t so good) I feel better. She hand delivered to her local ballot box early. I got an I voted pen today (they were not RE-using them) instead of an I voted sticker.
  12. State. US Senate and rep. Some local stuff. Primaries
  13. Our volunteers all appeared to be past retirement age today. Still seemed very safe. I’m not personally worried about mail getting lost etc. delayed yes... I’m glad there are options (absentee, mail in, early) It should be fine
  14. Sometimes I vote against someone. Lol Our son voted for the first time today
  15. I just voted in person. I almost did the mail in ballot to be deposited at my town hall but figured I had time. We never have too many people at our sole polling place. For those who need (elderly, frail) it I feel mail in done the right way is useful and low risk.
  16. Very hard to get into the vocational (trade) school here. It is by lottery after you clear the requirements. Place is packed and they get new equipment all the time. The teachers make good coin too. Welding and electrical are prob their top two groups, their health stuff is in high demand as well. Our son did well via the carpentry program. Way ahead of his peers at his university
  17. Regarding youth employement numbers. Back when I was a teen, there were a lot of min wage jobs that adults wouldn’t take so we had a good choice. I got a supermarket job and was soon making a bunch of $$$. A lot of those jobs are now filled by older people as either a second income or to try to make it work for their families. Fewer openings for high school kids. There are some to be sure though. Our son has been working at least part time since age 16.
