  1. We need...a Shrubbery!! Does it matter what type of surface is underneath my weather station? Yes, the surface type affects the temperature measured at your station. Generally speaking, black surfaces (asphalt, black shingles) measure warmer temperatures than lighter colored surfaces (gravel, grey shingles). Ideally, your weather station should be placed 5 feet over short grass or low shrubs.
  2. MA Covid numbers have been much better the last week or so. Below 2% positive. Hopefully that spike was short lived. Im hoping to be able to work with my students in person at least part time of this keeps up. Still can’t do labs though. I ran the sprinklers for a while today. Hadn’t needed to do that in a while
  3. Labor Day Sale is in a couple of weeks.
  4. Maybe we can gin up some early season snow on the picnic tables
  5. Yeah. They usually are a late June/early July thing here but I saw a couple the other night
  6. More grasshoppers than typical but nothing like that amount
  7. I’m sure it has happened. But would be tough to do based on what I have seen. 95 is rare enough here
  8. If/when we get a generator I would set it up to power our well, our fridge, our furnace, and maybe 1 or 2 outlets. I’m ballparking $1500 for the generator itself and about the same for an electrician to wire it up correctly. Sound reasonable? I still question getting one but we have been dodging bullets since 2008 at my house
  9. Mosquitoes have been no big deal here. Deer flies almost gone. Horse flies at the pool suck but they haven’t been bad. Grasshoppers have been insane here Also, our chipmunk population collapsed. It was huge in the spring and early summer. Almost gone now
  10. “How much does a Public School Teacher make in Massachusetts? The average Public School Teacher salary in Massachusetts is $63,403 as of July 27, 2020, but the range typically falls between $55,351 and $73,196. Salary ranges can vary widely “ Wow. Mass was very close. Most contracts are 185-190 days. I think mine is 187. So yeah...around $35 per hour. That’s for Master’s level degree.
  11. No where near that in my hood, but our cost of living isn’t as high I’m guessing. I’m 20+ years in and make under $80k. I have never had an issue with my pay. It is fine. Benefits are good but we self fund our pension >95%. I do wish the city could pay for materials, texts, technology etc. hire more paras and tutors. More guidance counselors and other support staff are sorely needed. So many kids come from really tough households.
  12. Summer of yore. Hasn’t been super hot here, but has stayed warm overnight ORH is +5.3F for the month. One +10 departure
  13. Lots of subs won’t be doing it. Already a short supply
  14. She is definitely overplaying. Ask for 5 major things. Get 2. Something like that. Our local union was fairly evenly split and the SC went their own way. Some changes were made last night to help out some groups like special ed , vocational students etc. Anyhoo, R naught for MA has been back below 1 (0.97) for a little while. That’s good
  15. Definitely some good lightning going on here
  16. Some cute little cells near me. But they look like they will miss
  17. I think where you and I live, yes. Other parts of the state naso much.
