  1. In the 80s now across NY metro. NWS with another great forecast. What's a 10 degree error on a <12 hr forecast?
  2. Snowing here in Greenwich as well, so even the coast is seeing flakes despite the warm temps.
  3. Figured we were gonna get downgraded to an advisory since we can't meet the 6 in 12 or 8 in 24 requirements for a warning.
  4. 5 inches now, tapered off for about an hour, but snowing heavily again this is probably the grand finale with the back edge of the good stuff moving through the city now.
  5. The flakes are big and fluffy and accumulate quickly though it's relatively warm so for now paved and concrete surfaces are just wet.
  6. SNC did it today at 1755z, though that may not be an official ASOS station.
  7. HPN has been 1/4 mile visibility in heavy snow for three straight hours. Think they are just shy on the wind gusts though.
  8. This band means business. Visibility <1/4 mile at this point.
  9. In their discussion they said confidence wasn't high enough for three straight hours of <1/4 mile visibility and frequent wind gusts over 35. Blizzard warnings don't seem to have a high verification rate.
  10. Can't believe the snow is having such a tough time moving north. Almost an inch here after several hours of light snow.
  11. Public schools and some universities require proof of vaccinations to attend, so we've always had a vaccine passport.
  12. We'll never forget Derek Lowe's no-hitter against the Rays.
  13. But the fact of the matter is you still have to go through the application process. The only thing that has changed this year is some states mailed applications to every registered voter and/or made Covid-19 a valid reason to request an absentee ballot in states that require an excuse (Connecticut is one such state). There's no issue with mail ballots or voter fraud in general. This has been studied to death. You will consume more parts per million of cockroach in your food today than there are fraudulent ballots being cast.
  14. You're talking about universal mail in ballots where they send every registered voter a ballot automatically. There are only a handful of states, mainly out west where population is sparse, that have the ability to conduct their elections entirely by mail ballot. Absentee ballots, which you must request, are mailed in as well. They are both mail ballots in that they need to be mailed back. 80% of states have a mail (absentee) ballot system that works the same way as Florida's which Trump promoted as a safe and secure way to vote as he did. The insecurity of mail ballots is a fiction ginned up for this election. The states that have been doing universal mail ballots have done so with no problem for decades, and the rest of the states have done it the absentee way since the Civil War.
  15. Why would you even bother? Seems like his lawyers either don't get paid or end up in jail.
  16. There is only one real party - the republican party. Then there's this other group of disorganized feckless politicians who call themselves democrats who literally don't know what day of the week it is much less formulate coherent political strategy. Because like pandemic response, we have 50 different governments, all doing their own thing. If we had one uniform system across the country, like every other country in the world, this wouldn't be such a mess every other November.
  17. Are there places that are still closed? Everything in Connecticut seems like it has been open for months now. Where is it that people can't go? I know bars are the one thing that we're keeping closed until there's a vaccine, but those places started dying out when swipe right became a thing.
  18. It's a country founded on individualism. Selfishness is literally baked into the American DNA.
  19. Yeah I would never go on it unless I was desperate to bypass 95 and the post rd. If there's even the slightest bit of inclement weather trees come crashing down. The interesting part of that is when it was built there weren't all those trees around. I've seen pictures of what it looked like when it first opened and it didn't look like a highway jammed through a forest as it does today.
  20. That's called Thursday on the parkway. That highway is a death trap from falling trees, curves and hills, 100 ft exit ramps, and on ramps with stop signs at the end.
