  1. Scratch and clawed my way to a welcome .33" of rain.
  2. High today was 49.4 and yesterday was 50 and the day before that was 51F Pretty impressive cold spell for the last few days of May
  3. Up to a balmy 43F at 1245pm My sister is going to Iceland in July. Hope that volcano is still erupting
  4. Snowy Day atop S Greens. I snapped this picture from the top of Stratton at 1115am but still snowing
  5. Snowy day atop Vermont higher mountains. Looking at the Stratton Cameras. Snow line was around 2500 feet. It's still mixed at this level as of 11am but snowing and accumulating on the summit

    RIP James

Seems so. His sister's post said he past away in the ICU next to his Mom. So it has to be Covid. In my orbit of family, friends and friends of friends like James this is the 9th death. Such a sad gut wrenching story.
  7. I just looked at my Nest cam timelapse. I had lots of clouds late at night. You may have too which helped keep you from colder temperatures. If tonights storm comes any further north the Whites could have some snow tonight according to my weenie eyes
  8. Hum, (it's the NAM) but the 12Z run raises some eyebrows. Precip gets further north and it is sure cold. 850mb below freezing and even 925mb is very close. Could I flip early tomorrow morning or at least at elevations above 2000? It's happened before.
  9. Looks like Alex bottomed out at 32.9F Here is the weatherunderground link to his PWS https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/KNHCARRO4
  10. I got .31" yesterday and .10" the day before. With those I am up to 1.44" for the month
  11. The storm that will be passing by to the south looks cold for the end of May. Maybe we can yank it north 50 miles? If heavier qpf could get up to the high Whites I would think snow level would be quite low. 850mb below freezing even 925mb would be pretty close. I need the rain so have been watching the northern edge each run. Sharp cutoff through my area.
  12. That was snow was in my top 5 lifetime weather events. Rain flipped to snow around 6pm. Then 3 hours of snow thunderstorms. Not one or two bangs but dozens and dozens. Huge parachute snow that accumulated 3" in about 3 hours at 33ish. Lost power but what a fun and surprising snow for me.

    RIP James

31 is way too young to die. James really enjoyed winter weather and I always enjoyed his enthusiasm. R.I.P. James
  14. What potential is this to go enhanced or moderate any place in New England?
  15. Right around the longest daylight period of the year there is still a bit of light in the NW sky at 10pm and in the NW sky around 355am.
  16. Ouch Alex 30F? I guess you have learned by now that your true frost free period is about June 10th to August 10th. Would you agree? At least it killed off the remaining black flies. Their season has now passed here.
  17. Scott, what is the environment around the snow stake?. Obviously it is put in a spot that is representative of the surrounding area. No branches above it but it looks like it is in the woods with perhaps clearing in front of it? On my property on windy days snow blows off my open fields into the forest along the perimeter. I would assume the edge of the forest may have a deeper depth do to that fact. A video would be interesting so that I could see the area around the stake.
  18. 67/65 line of showers is through. Cells split east and west. We managed the gap perfectly .02".
  19. 86.7F today. Just got a direct hit from a developing shower. .10" just enough to temporarily cleanse the everything of pollen
  20. Sorry about that. Our 3 cats are part of the family.
  21. Looks like my high is going to top out at 80.7F. The last time it was warmer (82F) was on 9/9/20. I installed the AC unit today since my allergies are going nuts. We need one good shower to knock down the pollen. Really no rain to speak of in 3 weeks. My apple tree blossoms seem to be at peak with the first pedals falling off.
  22. I have the full bug outfit and just cut the lawn. Just swarms of them. I'm guessing they are peaking in Central NH. Radar looks good for lots of showers but it's just a tease. Mostly virga. Top soil is drying out quickly, wouldn't mind some rain for the lawn. Some people (like me) always have to be whining about something. Just can't be satisfied with a partly sunny 70F spring day.
  23. Scott, Brian, thanks for the responses. That is just a bird house next to the feeder. Tree swallows or blue birds usually nest in it but it has not been in use so far this spring. The apple blossoms just came out today on my apple trees so maybe he smelled something. It did look like he tried to climb the tree. The tree was pretty much split in half but I carefully cut away the broken part and used that tree pruning black stuff to seal the exposed trunk. It doesn't look as nice now but I think the tree will make it.
  24. 72/43 My perfect temp and humidity. Big leafout day in my hood. Leaves are about 50% of total size. When that happens I call it mid spring vs early spring. Any "bear" experts out there. Frickin bears are becoming so numerous in these parts. Caught one of the suckers on my weather cam at 11pm. Evidently he went over to one of the apple saplings and destroyed it. Obviously no fruit, not even open blossoms yet. Why would he do this?
  25. My front lawn looked great yesterday. Last year was a struggle with drought. Let's see how this year goes. Missed just about all the rain last night.
