Speaking of deer my neighbor has one of those trail cams. He caught a video of a coyote carrying a small fawn in it's mouth. On the other hand it looks like a doe had 2 fawns in our field very recently. The little guys are running around with Mom. Yes, lots of bear. The good thing is with the thousands of sightings each day in NNE, bear attacks are very, very rare. 72/51 at noon with mostly sunny skies. Another day in paradise. I love this summer, just need more rain (Don't look but starting about now we will begin to rapidly loose daylight on both ends. It will become noticeable in the next week or two)

I see one remaining snow patch in Tucks. I remember as a kid, so it had to be around 1970 that a patch of snow made it all the way through summer and lasted until snow season started up again. Either Don Kent mentioned it or I read it in the Boston Globe. Thinking more about this I believe they had a record setting yearly snowfall the winter before?

33 years of owning the house up here. This is much more like the normal NNE summers. The only difference is we usually have more brief intrusions of true heat and humidity followed by cold fronts to bring the weather back in line. We have had less of that this season so far. I will never miss the Baltimore summers of 95/72 but I do miss the crispy towering Cu's that build up into CuB's. The atmosphere is not as thick vertically as you get poleward so it is harder to get 35,000-40,000 towering tstorms which occur so often down there.

Living 600 feet on a hill above Newfound Lake was quite a sight. Most of the houses and cottages that line this 7 mile long lake are owned by Southern New Englanders. Everyone was up this weekend shooting them off over the lake. Although the town of Bristol puts on a great show backyard fireworks went on for 3 nights. Hours of explosions. We put on the AC and keep our 4 cats in a room. I'm sure Newfound Lake is littered with debris this morning. I wonder how pets do in Florida when there is thunder almost every day? What a fantastic day for the Northeast US. Low dews and clear skies and comfortable temps from Caribou Maine all the way down into Virginia. Wonder how many barbecues will be going tonight? Enjoy.

After a brief shower this morning the afternoon was beautiful. Really clear, crisp airmass. I would take this weather all year round. I don't even need 80/60.

I noticed it was down this morning when I looked at Radarscope. There is a disclaimer that said Offline. Then it said GYX 88D will be down until at least 10am Monday when a part arrives. That was posted on June 25th 345pm.

Well this front was another fail. 0.22" is not enough to do anything for the water table. I am lucky that I got a localized .55" shower last week.

The early 80's were bad time for Boston Metro. I lived there and in places it was winter bare. Yesterday we took a 150 mile day trip up the Connecticut River to well north of the Whites and back down. No caterpillars. We came across a few fields of buttercups in full bloom. I had never a field so bright yellow. Right along the Connecticut River in Monroe looking west into Vermont

We are finally got a garden loving .55" shower last evening. Our lawn mowing crew was not impressed and scattered. Fairly strong and impressive but no lightning with the line. We have had no appreciable rain in a couple of weeks leading up to this. Time lapse below. I had to drive down to Concord today. Gypsy Caterpillars are wiping some places almost bare along Rt 93. Here in the NW section of the Lakes Region of NH it seems the bear population is definitely increasing. I bought this house in 89. Back then I rarely saw a bear. It was news if someone saw one. Now they are everywhere. Why has the bear population in New England increasing? On the other hand I use to see Moose fairly regularly. I have not seen one in 2 years. From time to time someone posts a picture of one on our face book group. I guess it is the ticks and climate change? Ticks are not killed off as much in the winter?

Stein continues to be stein. Watched showers pass N/S a couple of miles west of me all morning. 2 weeks without any real rain other than a few tenths here and there. 59F and overcast at noon

Thanks for taking an interest in this. In the winter NH has road signs along interstates warning of winter weather the next day, Winter Storm Watch etc. Even someone at the NWS conveying to other agencies of a hazard. If NH had those road signs on northbound Rt 93 Friday evening warning of hazardous weather over the weekend at elevation the word would have gotten out to many in the public that perhaps it would not be a good day for a high hike.

I didn't know if you were off or not but I sent a message to GRX through FB messanger at 735am last Friday. Take a look at what I wrote and what response I received back. I urged them to think about putting out a special weather statement for the weekend hazard. With cold conditions on the NH lakes people will be thinking of things to do. They said they would not be issuing a weather statement but would let the public know through social media. I can paste and clip the exchange if you would like to read it. Im GR65 if you need to find it.

Hey guys... I had not looked at this thread since last week. Now catching up. It is Monday evening. I just had New Hampshire's only TV station on and heard about the death of the of hiker. This got me very angry as some of this could have been avoided. Last Friday looking at the models it was clear that the weather would be very hazardous for hikers this past weekend. I don't know any of the WMUR TV mets other than messaging Hayley Lapoint a few times in the past. I didn't know if she would be on air last Friday but sent her an email saying that if she was she should hit this weather hazard pretty hard. She never responded, probably never saw it and in fact was not on air but Jackie Thomas was. I watched her. No mention of anything other than a cooler weekend coming up. No talk of anything out of the ordinary! I thought that was so irresponsible. I even sent Hayley a follow up email saying how I felt. How could she have missed this??? I feel like calling the news director and bringing this up to them. Am I over reacting?? I bought one of those too. Two new cars this year. I reserved a hybrid Maverick when they first announced it since our truck was 13 years old. Took delivery in January. Love the truck and my Mustang Mache. You are exactly right, the hybrid only is FWD but the MME is all wheel drive. So I guess between gas and electric prices we have insulated myself pretty good. I hope so, as the pocketbook is pretty empty right now. Between the two vehicles we will figure NNE winters out. I made this You Tube video just after I drove it off the lot. for my nephew who loves cars.
