42F Lots of virga. Actually it looks like the snow is almost making it to the ground. It will take no time at all for heavy snow squalls with fropa. Last time the NWS issued a snow squall warning all the phones went off. Too early to know what will happen to the line locally in my hood.

No salt on the roads so snow will melt and perhaps making things slippery. No winter weather advisory. It might not meet criteria but these things can catch people off guard. Then on to Saturday. Jeez, that was a hard cleanup. 7.5" of snow then heavy rain. Snowblower does not work well at situations like this. Neighbor had a 4-wheeler with chains and plow and did the driveway. Warm and partly cloudy now. Is it over? Don't think so. Strong winds, falling temperatures with snow showers. Maybe 1-2" more if the pesky Greens don't block it.

32.0F Light to almost moderate snow. Where did this come from? It started an hour ago with snow grains which I assumed was from the moist low level flow. Over the past 15 minutes it's legit snow with goof flakage. Ground is dusting white. Edit: Snow back to very light Could this be a real birch bender/blue bomb up here tonight? If so we are redy. Recently bought a Jackery solar generator. 1000plus. No more starting the genny outside and dealing with all that at 1 in the morning. This is quiet power, no cords running outside anymore. I charged it yesterday via the sun and it should run refrig, lights etc. for 24 hours if need be. Honda genny is still here for backup.

Hum, I starting to think of a birch bender tomorrow night. No watches or advisories for the Southern half of Grafton Co. but at least the clown maps showing a sneaky heavy hit especially at higher elevations.

Peak gust today has been 36mph. I would guess we have about 75% of snowcover remaining. Woods have cover but south facing open pastures like mine lost just about everything yesterday. The lawn mowing crew has arrived early. Currently I count 27 of the creatures. Here are a few of them chomping away.

What is the science behind lake streamers? You can clearly see upslope and downslope in this picture but why do thin streamers form and stay intact for over 100 miles? I guess I'm lazy and could look it up but maybe others in the forum might be interested in the answer. I don't remember seeing such organized streamers?

37F flipping to snow about one hour past fropa

Front went through at 9:25pm, 15 minutes ago. Very brief heavy rain but meh on the wind. It's roaring in the trees and I'm sheltered due west but my high wind gust was only 23mph. Temp is down from 50F to 44F

T minus 10 minutes for fropa 51.2 So far highest gust S 26.

I just read the Gray Maine discussion and it seems pretty meh..... Wednesday will likely be the warmest day of the week, high temperature records look like they could be broken Wednesday in Augusta. 40-50 mph winds are anticipated along the coast, with up to strong gale force winds likely over the open waters overnight Wednesday. A cold front moves across the region Wednesday night, bringing rain and a little bit of snow Thursday morning. The very warm temperatures look to release a substantial amount of snowpack across interior NH and Maine. The added snowmelt on top of the rainfall expected Wednesday and Thursday could cause some river rises and ice movement. Thursday looks to be a brisk and chilly day. However, as the winds diminish later on Thursday night, high pressure returns to the region and ridging continues through the weekend. We are looking at a warm and dry start to March.

Well, it's a wrap and a fail. Newfound Lake NH will not have a "ice in" this season. It tried this week and almost made it until today. Even with the cold weekend the NW wind will break up much of the thin ice. I believe this is the 3rd time the lake failed to freeze in the past 100 years.
