We just got power back on our street in Navarre. Many in our subdivision (one of the largest in the state) are not as fortunate. Places in the N part of Santa Rosa county will be waiting even longer. .

Regardless of strength (I’ve seen Andrew & Michael up close). Unless you have boots on the ground you don’t realize the amount of damage even a storm of this strength can cause. My thoughts are with the many people who are dealing with issues big or small. I can tell you the Emerald Coast got smacked by this. Glass half full thoughts, are the shear and dry air saved us from what could’ve been a monster! .

Last half hour has been the worst, definitely close to hurricane sustained with some higher gusts. .

Conditions are steadily deteriorating in Wright FL. Conservative sustained winds are 25 with gusts to 35-40 .

Noticeable uptick in both wind and rain in Wright FL (location below) over the past 30 minutes. .

I’m going to be providing OBS from Wright FL for the storm. I will provide them periodically as long as conditions/infrastructure allow me too. I saw this highlighted on X a bit ago and it gave me some pause…. .

If recon verifies a major before the 10:00AM update will NHC issue a special statement? .

Agree with you, NHC even has this verbiage in the 4AM discussion…. Isaias will likely become a major hurricane soon with the improving satellite imagery, and it could continue to intensify for the next 12 hours or so while it moves over very warm and deep water. However, a large increase in shear is anticipated before landfall, which will probably cause some weakening to occur. This is a tenuous spot because it would only take about a 6h delay in the onset of the shear to bring a stronger hurricane than expected onshore. .

Just woke up after a short night of sleep. Overnight recon has been interesting. Might have a Major at the 4AM adv. Possible landfall between Baldwin county AL & FWB FL if I were to hazard a guess currently.

Looking at the presentation on the WV right now and this seems very plausible. .

Sometimes we get spoiled by the symmetry of perfect monster canes. I’m one who marvels at their beauty! I can tell you that as someone who sits in the crosshairs of this system, regardless of dry air & especially shear…I’m still quite fidgety tonight! .
