  1. I grew up in Concord.. Would not recommend living there if you have a jackpot fetish. The whole Concord, Carlisle, Acton, Bedford, Sudbury, Lincoln area is good in the sense that it's rarely on the "wrong" side of a mix line during a coastal storm... But I can't remember many/any storms from growing up where we got the most snow.
  2. There's been quite a bit of consolidation in the space but not as many BKs as you'd think. Rig counts are way down and companies are showing a lot more capital discipline which is good. I don't play in the space too much... Too boom/bust for me.. I own $COP in a retirement account (but they're bigger and more stable) and have traded in/out of $MTDR for years now.
  3. We're running +3.6 here at Central Park month to date. Hasn't felt particularly warm.. But hasn't felt particularly cold. Still running ahead of schedule on snow thanks to the December storm.
  4. Sure, but it's completely different for one stock to bounce like that vs. a broad index.
  5. It's funny with all the talk of the energy transition (which is definitely real) and what not, but if you had bought the XOP at its march lows, you would've hit a 8-bagger. Even something like ARKK isn't close to that.
  6. Where exactly are the houses? I understand that they’re between Brighton and PC near Guardsmen Pass but can’t find the homes on the satellite image.
  7. Firm and fast this morning at Hunter. Kind of day where it isn’t bad in the morning but I’ll likely call it quits at 1:30-2 as it gets scraped. On a positive note, lots of guns running including on Clair’s on the West Side.
  8. Where at Bretton Woods is this photo taken from? MWN seems "far" from BW compared to reality... Maybe it's just the angle though.
  9. Sounds like a Covid outbreak at Hunter, closing the resort today.
  10. Was able to get a reservation at Hunter for Sunday (1/10) after refreshing the page about 20 times today. Quite the robust business they must be doing to already be booked by Monday for a Sunday (I figure Saturday's are usually the busier day).
  11. I think the frustrating piece for Attitash and Wildcat skiers is that Cannon, Loon, BW, Cranmore, etc, their chief competitors, have done a far better job of getting terrain open this season. Cannon, for example, has upwards of 40 trails open. Cannon isn’t exactly a resort known for its snowmaking and grooming (not that they’re bad-but it’s not Okemo).
  12. I live in NY but still spend lots of time in New England (especially with Covid-19 WFH flexibility) as my family is still largely in the Boston area and Southern NH. Growing up outside of Boston, I always liked having snow around as I liked sledding when I was little, skiing at the local hills midweek (winter 2010-11 had EVERYTHING in play at Blue Hills LOL), etc... That said, I have almost no interest in it snowing in (downstate) NY for a few reasons 1) if it’s snowing in NYC, it’s probably suppressed for the ski areas 2) it becomes such a mess to deal with and is only pretty for like 2 hours after the storm and 3) after living in Texas for four years of undergrad and two years post grad, I’ve decided that it’s really nice to be able to only wear a light jacket in the winter.
  13. Greenleaf Trail out and back to summit of Mt Lafayette today. More snow than I expected up high (in relative terms).
  14. Someone I know who is spending Christmas in East Tennessee just posted this photo to their Instagram story,
  15. Snowmaking trails will be fine. Naturals wiped out.
  16. Total shit show at Sunapee today Too many people for the lift/trail capacity when chairs are only going up half full... the sun bowl quad is having issues too.. vail=fail
  17. I’m skiing with my uncle and cousin tomorrow at Sunapee. They are both once per year skiers so I figured it would be better to get out before the rain hits (plus I have vacation days to burn). Using Epic buddy passes for them, it was $69/ticket for the full-day, which I guess isn’t terrible. In the process of planning a late January Crested Butte trip... Colorado snow hasn’t been great early season but figured CB has lower skier density which should help preserve conditions and plus, I like the more “Texas” vibe there compared to the I-70 rat race. That said, MTN isn’t deriving much ancillary revenue from me or my friend that I’m going out with-We’re both epic pass holders and aren’t staying slopeside... AirBnB in town.
  18. Still some pretty major timing differences between GFS and GGEM. GFS has the front through (eastern areas) by 9AM on Friday yet the GGEM hangs it back until Friday night.
  19. 18z GFS slightly slower with the front, but still through Eastern areas at 10-11z Friday.
  20. GFS has the precip through by ~6-7 AM Friday morning.
  21. 18z GFS looks quite grinchy. Low over Toronto.
  22. -3° on my car thermometer in the Greenfield area as I head to Okemo.
  23. MTB trails at the old ski area in Northfield, NH might not be a bad bet. Unsure what their uphill policy is.
