Nice to see another CT shoreline poster. Looks like a nice rare Dec snow here. Although surface features are weak, the deep layered lift overnight into Sunday AM (including RRQ of ULJ, and modest mid-level frontogenesis/lift in the snow growth region along the coast), and slightly more depth of moisture for low pressure to work with has resulted in a gradual increase in QPF and snowfall totals over the last 48 hrs.

Nice burst of snow here in Branford. That line moving east seems to be strengthing.

I'm down visiting some of my wife's family in NJ this weekend. Took a ride out to visit her uncle in Long Valley. I think you were from that area? The trees are completely bare there and they have had snow twice and some decent cold according to her uncle. But today I am near EWR and it was like going back in time a full month+ or so with the trees and stuff flowering. Looks like EWR still hasn't gone below 32.

Most references rate the species as hardy to USDA hardiness zone 8b. A small number of specimens are cultivated beyond the typical regions sabal is known to be cultivated in, including parts of Tennessee, northern Virginia, and along the middle Atlantic coast from Maryland to coastal New Jersey and coastal Connecticut. A long term specimen grows in favorable microclimate (zone 7a/b) at the University of Bridgeport CT since 2009.

Speaking of Palms. Bridgeport has the most northern east coast palm tree with this sabal palmetto that's been growing since 2009..

I think they radiate well there with the sandy soil. HVN and BDR were in the mid 40s most of the night.

Yeah. We still grow with BDR at 44. There still hasn't been anything close to a frost here..

My Peonies think its spring and there will be blooms soon...

60 here and the Yellow Jackets are back out in full force trying to get a taste of this delicious East Rock Brewing Oktoberfest..

Some great late season blooms from my vines. All my clematis and morning glory are going nuts with flowers. The ice plant is still blooming as well. Just noticed a few dandelions and clover flowering in the lawn as well.

Still haven't even been in the 30's here. Looks like another mid November or later first frost for BDR.
