  1. What a special summer. 72 for the overnight low with some gusty dews coming in now. Strengthening southwesterly flow, and occasionally gusty along the coast, early this morning, was bringing in higher dew points. And temperatures have remained nearly steady. Updated for current conditions and trend this morning.
  2. $1800 a year on gas for just the pool heater? My buddy owns a pool company and he said they have insanely efficient inverter driven pool heat pumps now. They operate at a coefficient of performance (cop) of 14. That's an effective efficiency of 1400%. For every 1kw used your sending 14kw into the pool.
  3. It is when you have comprehensive coverage. Many people don't though and are driving older cars. I just talked to another friend who can't even get a converter for his car. Places are saying so many are being stolen they can't even get replacements. Another friend said they hit his work van but also destroyed the entire exhaust system including the oxygen sensors. They had to replace everything from the exhaust manifold back and it was like almost 4k.
  4. With the rise in precious metals catalytic converters are being stolen like crazy now. My brother in New Haven said his whole neighborhood has been hit multiple times. They go under with a Sawzall and cut it out in less than a minute. I looked up prices and they are worth a few hundred in scrap each. The repair bills can be huge as a new converter are often over 1k for just the converter. My brother had to spend 1800 to get his Honda fixed.
  5. Been an incredible summer for gardens. My hydrangeas and hostas are blooming again. My tomatoes are flowering again and on their 2nd crop of tomatoes.
  6. Can you throw up HVN or BDR? It's been an incredible summer of dews and heat here on the CT shoreline. The overnight lows and dew's have been nuts here. Everyone around here is installing central air/minisplits as it just doesn't cool off at night like it use to.
  7. Awesome. Went yesterday on a charter boat out of Galilee and was landing bass on every cast.
  8. I saw it from the CT shoreline as well. Some insane lighting with that. Look at the lighting track. If that was over land...
  9. Some more info here. https://www.leafly.com/news/politics/tribal-cannabis-store-coming-to-cts-foxwoods-casino-and-maybe-north-carolina-too
  10. New Cannabis dispensary called Cookies just opened in Worscester. Haha
  11. One of the best summers for lawns. Months and months of lush grass here.
  12. Well said. Dogs are amazing creatures and raising a pup has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done.
  13. Appreciate all the work you do. This pup is living his best life...
  14. Terrible conditions down there but there are a ton of New Englanders with big hearts...
  15. Wife and I adopted this rescue pup from Georgia. Its my first dog and what an experience. Such a great bond. He loves going down to the river.
  16. That place has great dogs! A true weenie paradise...
  17. What a special one. Definitely some of the best dews of the summer. 93/76
  18. I own them now outright but used a 5 year low interest home equity loan to finance them. My monthly payment was equal or lower than my average monthly electric bill. Instead of paying my utility I paid off my panels every month. I now get approximately $2500+ a year in free electricity. I think the paperwork said my ROI is 15.6% for the next 20 years. If you have a good sun and plan on staying in your house its a no brainer. I wouldn't lease as it becomes a headache when you sell as the new buyer has to take over it. Its often a really bad financial deal.
  19. Best investment I ever made 6 years ago. My panels reached their return on investment in 5 years. My electric bill is just the $9.62 connection charge every month. I also use inverter heat pumps as my main source of heat as my electricity is practically free. In most New England states the incentives are so good the payback period is around 5 years. After 5 years its basically thousands in free electricity every year.
  20. Just took a look as I know someone with an Optima. Included are the 2013–2014 Hyundai Sonata and Santa Fe, 2011–2013 Kia Sportage, 2011–2014 Optima, and 2012–2014 Sorento. During machining of the engine crankshaft and crankpins, metal shavings may have been left within the crankshaft oil passages, and the crankpins themselves may be too rough on the edges. As a result, oil may be blocked and cause the connecting rod bearings to wear, which would then cause them to fail and seize the whole engine. That, of course, would cause the car to stall during driving
  21. #Henri rainfall totals through early this afternoon... Brooklyn: 9.85" Oakland, NJ: 9.22" Central Park: 8.19" Harrison, NJ: 8.02" JFK: 5.06" This is now the 2nd wettest (meteorological) summer on record at Central Park, with nearly two feet of rain since June 1.
