  1. This cold air is taking its sweet time. Back up to 29. I guess we need darkness to drop the temps.
  2. Temps finally on the way back down. Got up to 30 here. Now 28.
  3. I hope so. At 29F right now. lol It's like someone took out a hair drier. lol
  4. Temps may rise above freezing at this rate. Forecast says 26. Already at 27 and rising.
  5. Quick question. Just thinking when is the best time to restock on food. If people hear the hint of another snow storm, the stores may have a small window of restocking before being ravaged again. Thinking that Tuesday may be the optimal time. Worst case, I do have tire chains if roads aren't that good yet.
  6. So, silly me, I shoveled the snow and figured I'd get to the sleet this morning. I'm 288lbs. My feet did not go through the 2 inches of sleet. So, ummm. Yeah. I'll throw some salt on it. See what happens later. But this stuff is no going anywhere. If temps get close to 30 degrees today, it will cause some melting but make everything even more supplely when it refreezes.
  7. I'm old now. My memory is failing. lol. But it was one of those surprises.
  8. I saw it on my laptop. It's like every other page.
  9. I see it now too. Def not sleet. It's floaty and going sideways.
  10. I guess my temp forecast didn't bust. lol. Didn't think I'd go from 20 to 27 so fast. But here we are. 26F
  11. The sleet has the consistency of sand. It's crazy. I shoveled the 5 inches of snow. Will get the sleet later. Steps and sidewalk covered with sleet. Temp up to 22F. Can see a dry spot coming from the SW on radar.
  12. Red returns on radar blowing through DC right now.
  13. Temps busted low today for me. Supposed to be 27 but I got as high as 22F. I see this week they have temps that are supposed to make it into the 20s. I have a feeling they may bust low? How confident are those forecast highs? Single digit lows all week is just insane.
  14. No, this was in 99 or 2000. I used to work on Wisconsin Ave. and it took me hours to get to my house in Adelphi. EDIT: Surprise Nor’Easter of January 25, 2000 Early morning drivers on Tuesday, January 25, 2000 were ambushed by a surprise snowstorm. Although most schools had cancelled classes by the start of the rush hour, many people ventured onto the roads unaware that the forecast had drastically changed overnight. The storm, initially expected to veer south of Washington, took direct aim on the East Coast Megalopolis producing widespread snowfall during the mid-morning hours.
  15. Can't remember the year. But it was real cold. Maybe like 20s. And this weird light snow happened in DC. Maybe like a trace. Roads weren't treated because it wasn't forecast. I recall Ruch hour where it took people like 6 hours to travel just a few miles in DC. It was crazy. Just a light to moderate dry snow for like an hour and there was gridlock.
  16. Now comes the icing on the proverbial cake to fuse a nice thick layer on top of the snow making it tougher to shovel.
  17. Me and my neighbors have not started yet. I have a snow blower. Will go out after coffee. Still sleeting. I can't imagine the crust if we get freezing rain in the teens.
  18. Temp steady at about 19F/1.9. Nothing falling yet.
  19. Trying to pick a cam to verify when the snow starts, but MDOT's cams are so low-def. Not sure if it's the cold or what. But all are like 480p.
  20. Could it be the mountains? It is coming in from the west over the Apps.
  21. Down to 19F. Not dropping as fast as others.
