  1. That's all December was, pennies though not nickels. I had a total of 1" for the month and it snowed 4 or 5 times. At least I can call January 5" :arrowhead: That puts me at 13" for the season so far, not sure where that puts me in relation to last year. Yup I was looking at how much the ice surfaces melted on the lakes and reservoirs today and thinking it will be gone in just a few days. It really does feel like winters back is broken. I didn't have that feeling last year when we struggled through 6 weeks of non winter in the middle of the season though.

I'm trying to think of a good spot with unobstructed western views to watch it arrive

The road over the Gunks has an awesome view to the west after you crest the top. There are also two view spots on the Taconic with long views all the way back across the river to the high peaks of the Catskills that are great for something like what you want to do.

A very odd month. Add in the next two days and it will finish near normal temperature wise, in addition 15 days above normal and 16 days below, and snowfall wise a total dud in the immediate NYC area. Places N & W did close to average snowfall wise this month.

Some places... If I put the last storm down as the ~4" before the change to freezing rain then I'm at about 4.5" for the month. That doesn't speak to how difficult the conditions have been for a good number of days though and will be today and tomorrow. Hopefully I can pull a few inches this afternoon but I don't think there's even a remote chance to get to 10" for the month. :(
