  1. I haven't been there in 30 years but one thing that's probably the same is the east side of the park is significantly more crowded. There's also a fair chance that it will be snowy over ~9k feet. It could be 95° in Boulder, 90 in Estes and 25 going over the top. The west side is (was) much greener and more peaceful.

  2. .16 Blah. I guess the upside is the soil is primed now to accept more rather than it being hardpan and the water just running off. Considering how raw and wet it is you'd think I'd have a lot more, 56* with a good 6-10mph breeze a lot of the time, although it's quiet now.

That sounds stunning and absolutely amazing, did you get to see a rainbow too?

I had a similar situation on July 3rd and captured a stunning double rainbow with purple skies.  That almost happened with this storm, but the sky was too dark and the beginnings of the rainbow looked pale and almost a light pink color against the purple skies.

It happens to me a lot. I tend to start heading ESE around 6 as my customers close so I'll often chase, or be chased by, storms as they work this way. It's a real hoot in the winter as a front is working down and I can watch "the wall" behind me in the mirror.

    cicadas?

I dunno what juicy, window splattering, paint wrecking, headlight blocking insect-like critters they are but I can tell you that they suck.

  4. Been busy... Looks like I got .5 on Wednesday. It dried up in no time :( Yesterday driving home I found the only rain around. Good thing too because the windshield was covered in bugs and I could hardly see. That stretch between Binghamton and Roscoe is brutal for bugs.

this is basically a polar high bringing in cool Canadian air?

the problem is it will also bring in the smoke from the north

    Plenty of smoke here

I don't think anyone is setting fires on purpose in the middle of nowhere of central Canada.

There are definitely fires set on purpose or through negligence obviously, I just don't think this is the case.

Isn't it just lightning igniting the fires?

Some of these fires have been burning for a few years now.
