The warm soil temps will have a significant effect on snowpack retention if we don't get a lot in the fairly near future. We got rain but not enough, as referenced by WDrag comment elsewhere, so there's a lot of warm air in the soil below the wet level and now it's insulated with a (thin) frozen cap and snow so it'll stay warm.

I'm pretty satisfied with my 2-3" considering I wasn't expecting more than an inch.

Looks like it's drying up I have the same half inch I've had most of the day, would be nice to get some more tonight but I'll take this dense coating and call it ok.

@wdrag I just want to make sure that you realize that Old Forge is ~250 miles north of here. A few times now you've used it and IME the weather up there isn't even remotely similar to here so I don't understand why.

Heh, yeah I figured the ground would turn grey before it glazed over and it would be gone by 9am as the temp went up. 4" later...

Fog and rain did the damage but there's still an inch or two left. Right now it's kind of gross out there, 41° with sideways mist. Yuck!

I expected to wake up to some freezing rain but got 4" of snow instead. Seems a fair trade

29 for a high today. It was kinda nice in the sun though. It's getting crispy out there now and with no wind it's a perfect setup to get really cold.

When I looked closer it has me getting really wet and snowman getting really white. That's unacceptable so I'm rejecting it entirely.

That was a helluva squall that blew through. It went from warming and sunny to whiteout with swirling strong winds. That was cool. Since then it's been in and out with increasing wind strength.

I've got pretty heavy snow falling now. Even the street was covered quickly.

I've been below freezing a few times but the strawberries and tomatoes just kept going, even this morning there are new flowers on the strawberries! Yesterday I pulled a handful of sungolds and these other mini tomatoes I've had good luck with this year and the last couple of beefsteaks are ripening on the counter now that I picked on Monday. I'm 55 miles north of Times Square.

Kinda looks like some folks might have a slickery drive home from their T-giving activities.

2014 I had 10" the day before T-giving. It figures it's going to rain in the morning, my father-in-law's funeral is a graveside service at 11am in Glendale. It was cold, windy and raw when my dad passed in April and now we get to do it again. Uggh

I have anywhere from a thick layer of translucent slush to 4" on branches.

That dry slot over the Northern Great Lakes is awesome.
