Even going up north during the 80s wasn't all that great. Went to Sugarloaf in the early 80s and they had a lousy pack and icy conditions. I don't think we saw snow on the ground until we were an hour away from the mountain. That's when I learned to ski on ice.
I grew up in the 60s and 70s so I'm one of those, when I was a kid, we had snow up to our waist. You seem to forget the bad years mixed in and there's a few. When I was a bit older and got into skiing, that was the 80s which sucked.
The funniest one was when he was talking while he looked like the last picture and two guys in shorts casually walked by behind him talking on the cell phones.
I was a 13 and made the mistake of trying to play through a hip injury, my handicap shot up. Finally got the hip replaced and I'm still struggling to get my swing back, need to spend some time at the range and hit a lot of balls before next year starts.
