Don’t want to tread into COVID discussion but some of you may remember my soon to be brother-in-laws father was hospitalized for COVID over a year ago.  He coded out a few times and really didn’t look like he’d make it.

He finally returned home after 13 months in the hospital.  We are going down to Long Island for my sister’s wedding next week and are all beyond happy that he will be able to attend.

That's awesome, I lost my cousin two months ago to covid, he was 63 and a little overweight but otherwise in good health. Great to hear a success story.

Well first round of 18 today.  Played pretty bad.   A tweaked back earlier in the week didn't help.   All my irons were weak fades.  Driver was another weak fade to a full on slice, even tho my natural driver shot shape is a draw.  Combination of a bad back and playing for first time in 5 months totaled to a 104.   My chipping and putting was actually pretty good

Im going out next week for the first time, I could shoot what Chris shot or what you shot (or worse), never know first time out.

I haven't enjoyed Sebago the few times I have been, lots of traffic and stunted bass. Crescent and Crystal Lakes are within about 10 minutes of our new place but I plan on spending a lot of time on Thompson and Long Lakes, probably the Androscroggin for pike as well.

Are you buying a house up there? Tons of good lakes up there to fish, I spend a lot of time in Maine since my sister lives there, might move up there myself when I near retirement.

For all the offers on our house last week it was lower down payments (5% whereas we put down 10%) and the buyer having to put in 10-20k towards making up the difference in appraisal and sale price.

I just had one where the buyer was willing to put 25k between sale price and appraisal and it's not even close to enough for how much they overbid.

I was in Portland Saturday night and friends had a mailer on their table, houses listed for $600-$700K were selling over ask by $100K. Nuts. Rumor in my neighborhood is a multi-million dollar listing sold for 25% over ask. Insane. Friends in adjacent town have a tear down across the street, on less than 1/4 acre built out to maximum extent, no backyard, supposedly going on market for $3.5mm. I lack an adjective. Right now, life science stock options seem to be leading the charge but I always wonder about the % down payment on these homes - are the banks allowing a higher % of income to be directed to mortgage - or is it just folks with lots of home equity moving up? I pay no attention to this stuff given I'm want to downsize in 2024 and will probably leave the area.

A lot of people are selling their houses for crazy prices so have a decent amount of cash to overpay on another house. Just had a conversation this afternoon with a realtor about this very thing, he's never seen people with so much cash to put down and it's all because they got over payed for their current house.

Push cart lubed with wd40.  Irons regripped today as well, all ready to shoot a buck oh five ^_^

Same here, I'm ready, I usually take a nice easy swing first couple of times out and do ok, it's when I try and ramp things up when my game goes south so I have to go back to basics.

Was nice late morning but since then we’ve had a lot of clouds and wind has picked up. Temp has fallen about 4F off its high too. Back into the upper 40s.

I dropped 3 degrees down to 44 in that short time

I would concede that areas like Boston/Metrowest will see declines muted--probably not denied.    What we are beginning to already is longer times on market, sales taking place below asking and other concessions that sellers may make.   That said, it might be worth while hanging on for the GC prices to drop (further and faster than where you to maximize your profit.

2 cents from the peanut gallery.

As bad as home prices cratered in most of Mass they held steady in the Greater Boston Area back in 2005-2008 so I agree and would expect the same thing to happen again. The city has it's own market.

We planed on it last year at The Ranch but we never got passed the idea phase.    It’s a good central location for our region too. Just need to pull the trigger when the time comes.

I think the Ranch is a good area but I'm not sure where everyone lives, I'm in for the Ranch.

Serious Berg, lets plan a golf outing with the golfers here this summer, there's enough of us, we can find a somewhat central place to meet in CT.

Real estate in Western Massachusetts is up 30-40% since the start of the pandemic.

Not absurdly high compared to Metro Boston but things are sky high across the state, it's all relative.

Haven't been able to catch anything so far.  Are the greens slow from the rain?  That trips up some guys who are used to lightning speeds

A lot of putts coming up short so I assume they're a little slow today.

I put this thread out, but usually on the eve of Wiz's May 1st severe season to allow capturing all of those north country April snows, but @WxWatcher007 beat me to it.

Not expecting an epic April, so here it is...

    Overall Seasonal Snowfall: B+
    Over average snowfall.

    Snow vs. Rain: C
Too many cutters that really kept what could have been a deep pack for a good chunk of the season.  Rain sucks.

Staying power/ (number of days) of the pack: B+
8 weeks of 100% snow cover, although there were a few of those days that barely held on with a few inches or so.

    Local winter enjoyment: C
The ice was in and out, and in and out, and there were only a couple of snow shoe days, even after multiple 12" plus events.

    Temperature: B

    Snow Storms/ events (quality/ quantity): B
Besides a 13.5" event, and a 20" event, the next largest event was 6". Many nickel and dimers to pad the stats made for o.k. events, but really nothing epic.  The long rainers to an inch or 2 of snow was a whole lot of waiting around for nothing...and then cold.

    Overall Grade: B-

My location was in a pretty lucky spot this season, while so many people west of me suffered, so I really can't complain overall.

I feel just about the same as you, we had a similar winter, my grades are a half point lower than yours across the board though, average snowfall give or take a few inches is a C to me but other than that agree with your take.

About an inch here. I’m ready for some nice weather to dry things out in the yard   Time to move on to golf season. Still 3-4 weeks away around here.

We start the league last week of April, we used to start earlier but we'd always get a cold rain day or sometimes just too freaking cold to play. One year it was around 40 with drizzle, most miserable I've even been on the course.

Had a freak accident yesterday, a twig stuck in my ear. Sure enough, my wife looked at it with a scope today, and there are 2 perorations in the ear drum.

What was the healing like? Supposedly there really isn’t anything to do for it, unless it gets infected or doesn’t heal after a while.

I'd like to hear this story.

When we were kids a kid in the neighborhood got a stick in the eye while he was playing on a gym set and was blinded.

I think the coldest I have ever felt personally was a mid may Sox night game and I was obviously not paying attention to the weather thinking it would be like CT, my god what a raw cold night that was probably 5 or 6 years ago, I think I had the chills for a week after

I underdressed for an early April game once too and was cold as hell, kept running underneath to the concessions to warm up. Boston in April can chill you to the bone.

I’m ready too.  And yes, Monday will blow chow.  If we had a chance at some wintry weather with that cold, I agree it would be different. But we don’t, and who needs/wants that crap now..nobody.

And yes, most of the weather between now and mid June will be lousy.  We’ll have our nice days, and some warmth/heat will make appearances, but a good chunk of it will not be to good…like today is right now.

You should change your name to Whinywolf, you've been complaining about the weather for two months straight.
