Stolen from FB. This is in the gaspe as of yesterday. Far northern Maine into Quebec are just absolutely buried right now. Reminds me of 15-16 when I went up to Ft Kent last week of March. No snow at all through Ashland then once we got over the hill on 11 north of wallagrass it was just feet and feet of snow and got another 6” that first day there. Skied at lonesome pines which was fun for the novelty of it.

Anyone have advice staying near West Springfield? I help lead a high school robotics team and we last weekend we competed at WNEU. Drove only once through Armory Street and Saint James to the university; thank you Waze. Driving a large truck full of equipment on this drive was subpar.

Our 4 star Hampton Inn (tripadvisior.com) in West Springfield had the sounds of dirt bikes? drag racing? going on past midnight. With a pre-8AM start of 12 hours of competition, this was not what we were looking for. Also, if that's a 4 star hotel, I really don't want to end up at a 3 star.

We'll probably return to West Springfield in April for a larger competition (80 teams) which will be at the Big E. I'm trying to find the best intersection between a decent hotel, not too far from the venue and relatively safe. One adult suggested the La Quinta Inn on Congress Street in Springfield but I'm not sure about the area. Our tool boxes generally look like we bought everything a power tool company offers plus a couple of hundred pounds of assorted other stuff. I'm thinking we might not wanting to parking trucks in some of these areas.

Any advice? West Springfield (Candlewood Suites)?  Holyoke (Fairfield Inn or Homewood Suites)?

    Thanks for any help!

I would opt for the Candlewood Suites, whatever you decide stay the hell away from Holyoke.

No it's still there. Very blocky look for month-end. There's nothing imminent though, so not really worth commenting too much. There's an outside chance at something around D5-6 (there's some wave-spacing issues though), but I think the better chance is more like D8-10 assuming the block holds....it could just lift out too though like the OP GFS did today.

April 2nd, happy birthday to me

It's amazing how much the lawn has greened up here in the last week.   First cut is usually mid April but at this rate it will be earlier.

That's why we golf in Conn first time out. Down near the shore it greens up 3-4 weeks before we do.

so the above picture is of a holly type shrub. Is that going to make it? Deer got at it

another holly that the deer got at a bit. Why is the top turning a yellowish color? You can see a bit further down on the left. The rest of it looks fine.

and finally, this is like a Rhododendron type plant that flowers in the spring. Once again, deer got at it. There are still some leaves, but it looks pretty crappy. Is that a goner?

Yeah, fertilize, the deer do a number on my shrubs too but a little fertilizer goes a long way.

Oh yes they are everywhere indeed.

@weatherwiz is always debating between spiders and house centipedes, I think. Same here.

At our MD place, every year is another battle in the endless war between wolf spiders and house centipedes, who have been mortal enemies for 100 million years or so. Some years, the spiders are dominant, other years the centipedes reign supreme. Either way, you walk into your bathroom at 2 AM to piss and there is some huge multi-legged POS right there in your face.

One year I didn't see a spider all spring into the summer which I thought was odd as I always see them. One hot, humid night I come home and my foundation is covered with centipedes, hundreds of them. I ended up getting some WP Demon and sprayed a few times and got rid of them but it was like a scene from the twilight sone. Wiz would have freaked out. Before I killed them they started getting into the house everywhere, with my central air they would dry up and die but glad I got rid of them.

We are rapidly loosing our winter snow cover and all the deer that yard up behind our house are having a field day.  Last week we had 31.  At any time now they will disperse and head back up into the hills.

    Here is our zoo.

Mt BIL has 50 acres in Holland MA and his land borders a state forest and he has a lot of deer, most we ever counted at one time is 12, I never realized they hung out in such large herds. I've had 4 in my yard a few times but never saw 31, that's great to watch.

Unfortunately with my job I had to have surgical repair. Problem is they'll never heal themselves and I wanted as much strength back as possible. I put it off for a couple years and that was a huge mistake...made recovery on my left side painful as FUC. When my right side tore I had it done within a couple months and recovery was SO much easier, like by a factor of a thousand!

I got scoped too but never had PT to help with recovery, it was sore as hell for a while I remember that. Now that side is stronger still than the other side from the all the exercises I did.

Gas has been pinned at 4.39 at the station near my house for well over a week now., even with crude dropping over 30 dollars a barrel.

You can bet if it rose 30 dollars a barrel they couldn’t get those price hikes out fast enough, but now we can’t even get a small decrease

High here was $4.39, with lower crude they lowered it to $4.37, big whoop. They always raise it much faster than lower it.

So, I highly recommend not blowing out you ACL. Pain after surgery is unreal. I can barely move. No weight bearing at all with my left leg for about 6 weeks. I just lay on my couch staring at the ceiling. But, at least I will be back walking in time for summer. So I'm just immobile during mud season

A friend of mine blew his out and complained for awhile after the surgery about the pain, he was swallowing percs like tic tacs.

My left and right rotator cuffs agree 100 percent! A skilled physical therapist is woth their weight in gold... IF you do as they say

I tore mine lifting one day, felt like a rubber band snapped, not great pain at the time but after a few days I couldn't brush my teeth with that hand. My doctor was terrible and didn't even prescribe PT so I looked into things on my own and got my strength back.

I’ve got about 35% of my propane left. I usually fill up in the spring but this year I’m going to roll the dice and probably wait until late summer or fall

I would take that chance too, I got lucky and got my oil tank filled before it went crazy and haven't used much of it since I've been burning wood.

But...He "retired".  Doesn't retirement nullify the contract?  Players have done that before.

No, he thought TB would let him out of his last year if he retired and I think he wanted to go to another team. TB was stubborn and wouldn't let him out so he played his hand, it didn't work and he's back. In fact that last year of his contract is owned by TB in perpetuity if he ever wants to come back.
